Guest guest
I think a rim lock is a stock tray, with lips protruding inwards at it rim, to prevent impression displacement from the tray to prevent distortion. Since it prevents the impression material from unseating, it may well be used in both techniques, one and two stage. The only difference between the two techniques is with the two stage, you remove the tray twice from the mouth (once for the heavy body, and once for the light body (or wash)) while in the one stage, you only remove the tray once. This may give a preference to a rimlock if you are ''connvinced'' that a two stage technique is the best thing to go for. P.S. If you do a literature search on the one stage/two stage technique, you would find more tenedency toward one stage. The level of evidence of this, however, is expert opinion which is very low on the level of evidence scale.Best wishes,Khalid From: Hina Ayub <ayub.hina@...> " " < > Sent: Wednesday, 11 April 2012, 19:36 Subject: Re: Rim lock tray hi here is a link of rim lock what i understood is rim lock is a special tray for secondry impression (rim lock helps to avoid distortion of material while removing the tray from pt mouth )bu not sure it is single stage or two stage ?http://white-tooth.co.uk/invent_rimlock.shtmlhope it helps From: "Mokaamr@..." <mokaamr@...> To: " " < > Sent: Wednesday, 11 April 2012, 17:45 Subject: Rim lock tray Dear all, Pls give me your opinion?
