Just don't lose all your fat reserves or you will burn muscle and likely

not recover it.

diet advice

hello everyone,

just wondering if anyone has ever asked their doctor for advice on

dieting... i am trying to lose a couple of pounds (not much, just

enough to make lifting easier) and i am wondering if it could be

harmful to my strength. is there anything that i shouldn't do?

anyone had any bad experiences when dieting (i.e. felt weaker, more

fatigued)?

thanks,

rachel

I've been dieting for about three years now. It's been very slow

because I do not want my body to go into ketosis, as it likes to do, and

burn my muscles for energy. I try to limit my food intake to 20 Weight

Watchers points, or approximately 1000 calories or less a day. I have

time periods when I do really well with it, and other times I completely

fall off the Weight Watcher's wagon! I spoke to my doctor at the MD

clinic, and he suggested losing one pound a month as a reasonable goal.

I only notice weakness when I fill up my calorie allotment with a bunch

of junk and sugar. I try very hard to get lots of protein/amino acids

each day.

I definitely would not recommend any of the high-protein, low carb, plans.

Things like Atkins, etc.. I did a similar one a few years ago, and I did

indeed lose about 20 lbs. of weight, but I lost a LOT of strength,

endurance, etc. I wish I had never done it.

Blessings,

Holly

I have recently lost about 30 lbs. I exercise regularly and I make sure that I

eat very small meals every 3 hours. I also stop eating 3 hours prior to going

to bed. I personally take several medications that I take on a empty and some

that I take with food, It has been slow going but I have noticed it alot easier

to lift things and easier to get around. If you would like specifics I can tell

you exactly what I eat in a day....
