thanks Jeani... oh by the way, my name is Tom, I am 30 and I can't

wait to start making this stuff instead of buying it for $3 a bottle

from the whole foods stores in my area. It has been expensive, but

worth it. I have been using kt as part of a diet and exercise program

and have dropped 55 pounds to date since December. I have never

joined a group before, this is really neat. After I get started I

will need to try and get some recipes from people in the group.

Thanks again.

Sorry Tom-she's a he!!! lol! Well I think a lot of us think homemade kt is way

better than store bought. You should be in for a pleasant surprise,

particularly if you already like store bought. I also lost weight with kt, 2

jean sizes, actually. I'm going to wait a day to see if anyone from WA or

surrounding states, Oregon, California even has a scoby they can let you have as

it is much better on the scoby for traveling if it comes from some place that

isn't over 2000 miles away! Otherwise I can get you a scoby. Jeani

3 words to live by: subway (eat fresh), kombucha and gym

rinse and repeat

I travel a lot for work and Subway's are everywhere and are the only

somewhat healthy fast food when you're on the go. The other two

actually go together because I can usually have a way better workout

at the gym if i drink a bottle of kombucha about an hour before I

takeoff for the gym.

There ya go.

Yes, I'm sure that the water spray that is used in stores in regular tap

water with all the chemicals in it. I worked for more than 20 years in

super markets and never saw any special plumbing for the produce dept. I

do grow and harvest my on pea and bean seeds. I know that they are

Organic. The draw back is that they are a real pain to separate out the

chaff when taking the seeds out of their shells.

thank you so much Ernest, this helps a lot. I was wondering about

which pea to get, as they sell by the pound. I mostly look for green

stuff for fresh salad. cannot be any fresher than that you harvest

yourself.I do not mind the work, I do it anyway making salads. I

never

bought sprout in a store, but they would water with tape water

meaning

bleach and chemicals, would they not? I am not sure how much of that

is cleaned by the plant, Yuk! I wash with my good water.

I would try to get one from someone here. Either a local person or there

are a few folks here who will mail you a SCOBY for postage coverage.

Save the bottles from your case purchases. Not sure if it is GTs or what

but I find mine useful for bottling up my own KT.

The start can be a little slow. One SCOBY plus some starter will get your

first gallon going. But I have found you quickly have lots of SCOBYs as

they multiply. Next round you can get 2 gallons going and then the next ...

well you get the picture I have 3 gallons at least going at any time now -

with several SCOBYs in each jar - and a SCOBY hotel as well. I was thinking

of picking up another gallon jar so I could have 4 gallons going. We have

two people drinking it and I have to keep up production with use.
