Guest guest
Event: 7th ICAAP Satellite session announcement *********************** In conjunction with the 7th ICAAP Kobe 2005, JFAP in partnership with CARAM-Asia, SHARE, and the Japanese Research Institute of Tuberculosis are co-organizing a satellite Meeting on HIV/AIDS among the mobile populations in Southeast Asia. The speakers will cover a range of topics related to vulnerability of mobile populations to HIV/AIDS. The satellite meetings will start with a thought-provoking presentation focusing on the impact of the Indian Ocean Tsunami on mobility and HIV related interventions in local communities. Factual and statistical basis for the further discussions will be given by a speaker from the Japanese Research Institute of Tuberculosis, who will give an overview of HIV/AIDS among the country's mobile population. Two presentations on the emerging issues in HIV/AIDS interventions among migrant workers will be made from the perspective of a migrant-sending and a migrant-receiving country. The meeting will be concluded by presentation from UNDP on the role of international organizations in addressing HIV vulnerability among mobile populations. Migrants are among the most vulnerable groups of society to the whole spectrum of health-related problems and HIV/AIDS in particular. The satellite meeting on the HIV/AIDS AMONG MOBILE POPULATIONS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA is a great opportunity for the participants of the 7th ICAAP Kobe 2005 to get a better insight into the health problems of migrants and mobile populations and some current interventions to address the concerns. All interested participants are invited to register for the satellite meeting early to secure their place. To register for the Satellite Meeting on HIV/AIDS Among Mobile Populations in Southeast Asia, participants of the 7th ICAAP Kobe 2005 are advised to send their particulars to CARAM Asia Secretariat.
