I've spent too much time trying to answer this question, still I'm not 100% sure about my answers but this will be something I'd do in the exam:1) caries half away through enamel on proximal surface - bitewing

2) caries halfway through enamel on occlusal surface - dry tooth

3) caries half way through dentin not cavitated – bitewing

4) stained fissure – bitewing

5) hidden occlusal caries – bitewingI used the Pickard's Manual of Operative Dentistry - 8th ed.If someone knows the better/right answers please spend one minute to put it here.Thank you Svetlana From: "Mokaamr@..." <mokaamr@...> Ore < > Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2012 4:50 AM Subject: Caries Diagnosis veeeery imp

This question has been repeated several times.I found this question with the following answers which I don't agree with some answers.Pls help me finding the right answer because it is a very common EMQ.Thanks n best of luck everyone.

108. Best method to diagnose below caries
1) caries half away through enamel on proximal surface - bitewing

2) caries halfway through enamel on occlusal surface - straight probe

3) caries half way through dentin not cavitated – bitewing

4) stained fissure – straight probe

5) hidden occlusal caries – wet tooth

Option: traslumination, bitewing, dry tooth, wet tooth, briault prob, ’s prob, straight sharp prob

Thanks Svetlana,I totally agree with all except 3,4 for 3 if it is occlusal caries I would go for wet tooth. For stained fissure saw a lot of feedback answers saying It should be straight prob...not sure though but at the same time if it is in enamel only wont appear on the radiograph so cant go for bitewing best option is enamel biopsy but never given!same with the question asking about a cavity in prox surface....briault prob.I also used Pickard's manual .What do you think?More opinions are really appreciated. On 30 May 2012, at 06:52, Svetlana Lemtyugina <svetlanalemtyugina@...> wrote:
