Pam Hello Hi all, It's been along time, but I have the best news. Angel is now receiveing behavioral management for her autism and she is doing so well. Tonight she has not eye poked or obsessed over her Barney Movies. Someone else can actually watch a movie. I am so happy. I hope all is going well for the rest of you. Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to report that my son has a new OT at the school and she recommended headphones to block out unwanted and excess noise. I went and bought an old pair of stereo headphones at the thrift store and lined the earpieces with moleskin. He loves them. He has been able to tolerate regular ed classes almost 80% of the time now, as opposed to being self-contained since his diagnosis a year ago as having Aspergers. he is also a spelling be candidate! Guest guest
Hi, Glad the headphones help. We orginally used the flight line headphones that people at the airport/airforce use when they are on the flight line--that is how sensitive my son's ears were. We did AIT and it eliminated the need for headphones until he got an ear infection. After the ear infection his hearing sensitivities came back. Instead of doing another round of AIT, we purchased The Listening Program. I didn't tell the therapists that we started this and their feedback was amazing. Within a few days he had stopped covering his ears at school and his behavior was so much better. For my son we know this is an important intervention for him. We have done the full protocol and additional CDs a couple of times. We " boost him " with a " round " when he seems to be " off " . We usually see him get better in a couple of days. I don't recommend this for everyone. I know families that have done AIT or Tomatis with no gains. We were lucky that this one helped my my son--most of our " experiments " don't pan out. She's the " Chief Cook " today, I'm the " Assistant Kitchen Manager " and am supposed to answer her questions but let her do all the work. Of course, they don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Germany like we do here. I'll let you know how it turns out. (She's already made a traditional German sweet cookie called " Nut Corners. " We were allowed to sample them, one small one each. Let's just say we'd have to go some to find any protein in them, but they were GOOD!!) Happy Thanksgiving to you and to everyone else on the list. Jerry, , , Steve, and Eadie

Of course, they don't celebrate Thanksgiving in >Germany like we do here. I'll let you know how it turns out. OK.. Dinner is over and we decided cam be our Chief Cook for all special occasions. Like I said, this was her first attempt at a turkey. She found a recipe for an apple/pork/chestnut stuffing (also her first time making this) that she made from scratch. The recipe she used called for a pound loaf of bread cubed along with everything else. Well, we had enough to stuff the bird and still fill two loaf pans, but it was exceptional!! (She was invited to her boyfriend's house for a second Thanksgiving feast so she took the extra stuffing as her contribution to their meal.) And talk about a sense for seasonings. She initially basted the bird with an olive oil/honey/poultry seasoning mix. After the initial two hours she dumped in about 6 ounces of a German import beer, then covered the pan with aluminum foil. The turkey came out really moist and tender and it was the best tasting turkey we've ever had (including my mother's and she was no slouch when making turkeys.) Instead of mashed potatoes, put the peeled whole potatoes in the same pan as the turkey when she added the beer. We had gravey, peas, and two different kinds of cranberry sauce to round out the main meal. That was followed by a cheese platter. We also had a nice Berringer White Zinfandel with the meal and we still have dessert to go. For a young lady who claims to have done very little cooking, she has a fantastic sense of what to do in the kitchen. And to top it off, she insisted I eat all my turkey first before I tried anything else. She kept reminding me " Protein First!! " (Of course, her dad went through a similar operation a couple years back, so she does have experience in that area.) LOL Anyway, we hope your Thanksgiving day went as well as ours. Now to enjoy cold turkey sandwiches for the next week. ;-)) Jerry

Guest guest
Oooooo, I'm drooling!!! Sounds like did a fabulous job! I just cooked for Andy and me but it came out pretty well. Fried soy chicken, mashed sweet potatoes with roasted pecans and brown sugar, and a pecan/chocolate chip pie. I had some leftovers today. Everyting seems better the second day, don't you think? Belated Happy Thanksgiving! Tracey > > > is making the turkey, dressing, and potatoes for us, her first > >attempt at cooking a turkey. > > Anyway, we hope your Thanksgiving day went as well as ours. Are you feeling better today? Don't stress about missing the workout. It is more important to take care of the body and let it recuperate after your adventure last night! Guest guest
I am going to try this again lol I have a question, I hope someone can help me with.. lol... I was wondering if anyone has taken their MTX a day before they are supposed to and if anything happened? I am leaving Friday morning to go to Denver to watch my nephew at the State Wrestling Tournament and wont be back until Sunday. Friday is usually my MTX day, but I wont have anyone to give me my shot so I was going to do it Thursday night. Besides I have a lot of pain in my left leg with the shot and that is the leg this time. So I would rather not have it done before I drive the two hours by myself. Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated. I hope everyone is doing well.. Sorry I haven't been around much. Still waiting to hear about the Humira and still in a lot of pain. I am going to go to Denver though, as it is my nephews Senior year and the last time to see him wrestle.... Just have to remember to pack the pain meds lol.. Welcome to all the new people.. You have found a great new home and family. Love you all Kelley in Colorado
