Jalaine,

Hello! I've just returned to this site after about a year. Eveyone

here is very supportive.

I agree with Ruth...I also feel like I have tons to lose, but when I

did Body for Life a year ago, I used the pants-o-meter too. I'm a

scale junky too and I want to see the numbers decrease, but more

importantly, I want to feel better and look better.

BFL does that for me. The pounds didn't melt away, but my clothes

sure did. It's the whole muscle/fat ratio thing. I figure, who cares

what I weigh. If I can wear pants two sizes smaller, my weight is

between me, my doctor, the driver's license office and God!

Good luck! Wish the same to me...in week two. I still haven't gotten

up to speed on exercising.

Hi Jovina!

I'm a new mom, too, my daughter just turned 14 months - how old is your

baby? Is it your first? It was very hard to get into exercising again w/ a

newborn around - they're schedule is so unpredictible and you're just so

exhausted from, well, EVERYTHING. My suggestions would be just to start

slow - do 10 or 15 minutes whenever you have the time - it may not seem like

much, but every little bit helps and something is always better than nothing

- plus, since you have exercised before I bet exercising now will help you

to feel more like your " old " self. I know after my daughter was born I went

through some rough times - and some of it was b/c I felt like " I " was gone -

working out, something that I had always done, did help me to hold on to

some of the " old " me and that was comforting. Also, I truly think that

exercising gives you energy - sometimes the more energy you expend the more

you have (to a point - moderation is key!). If you ahve a consistent time

in your baby's schedule when you know you could fit exercising in, I'd

suggest using that time - put everything else on hold and use that time for

you - whether it be a nap time, or in the morning before your baby is up, or

evening after your baby is asleep. I know some people exercise w. their

babies in swings or play pens - that is an option, too. I never did that as

I really just wanted the " me " time, but if that is the best way for you to

fit it in, go for it - I'm sure your baby won't mind watching you!! There

are great options for videos/DVDs that have short quick segments that you

could fit in whenever you have some spare moments - Quick Fix, Tamilee Webb,

Kathy -- plus if you have a DVD player and can get some well chaptered

DVDs you could customize a quick workout. Let me know if you want any

specific suggestions.

Anyway, just wanted to say welcome and please feel free to ask me anything!

Donna

hi jovina!!

hang in there... the right time to start a new exercise plan will come.

it sounds like you need some more recovery time right now.

how old is your baby?

after our first child, i wasnt able to start exercising until he was around

8 months old.

after the second child, i wasnt able to start again until he was 11 months

old!!

it took me that long to feel up to it, find time to do it and have the kids

be somewhat independant for the duration of my workout.

then, every day for about a year, i had to stop and start my workout so

many times! but i remained persistant and got it done. it always took

me an hour to do a 30 minute workout. but getting exercise in 10 minute

pieces here and there during a day are certainly better than nothing! and

these days there are some good workouts that are 10-15 minutes long that

can really help to facilitate this. if you would like examples, please

just holler.

oh, and forget about the stroller! i always hated them -- i used various

baby carriers and slings instead and got a good workout 'wearing' my

baby! i had baby #1 in spring (1999) and it was excellent exercise for my

mind and body to pop him into the carrier and take off walking. we live in

the country so it is very quiet and relaxing. he would pass out every time

and his added weight would benefit my workout. especially as he grew

bigger and bigger.

i couldnt do that while i had two babies though :(

(so that is when i turned to fitness videos :)

Hey, Liz. I heard a guy interviewed on the radio a couple weeks ago who is cruising the US (48 contiguous) on his Harley with his dog in the sidecar. He's visiting schools and such raising awareness for assistance dogs. I thought it was so cool.

Love ya!!!

Hi

I am new to the group. My son Tommy is 10 yrs old and in the 4th grade. We

just went a couple of weeks ago to the Up With Downs Walk in Shreveport. Had a

great time. He is doing very well in school. He has a very hard time with h is

writing. Do any of your kids have this problem. He does very well with

everything else. I talked to the principle of his school today because he has

been

having some behavior problems and she is going to get someone to come observe

him to see if maybe they are pushing to hard and to see what his limits are. I

think he is doing great myself. He is doing great in math, reading and spelling

just having trouble with the writing. He has very week muscle tone but he has

come along way on that. He just doesn't won't to write. Are we pushing him to

hard.

Where are you located? We've discussed several places around the greater twin

cities area

where you can get real milk.

It's probably too far of a drive for you, but I use someone in southern

Co. The nice

thing about him is that since you go to his farm, you can go 6 days a week. He

always

sticks around 8-9am to sell milk or you can call to come after am or pm milking

(7ish).

$3/gallon, milking shorthorns, pastured, 2nd genereation organic, bring own

containers.

He also has things like eggs, meat, honey, ....

Hello Kathy,

Yes, you heard me right, I am a PORN STAR. I AM NOT joking. Well you

know, I did it nasty and rough during my 20's. I almost lost my

breath it was so exhausting. I specialized in S & M. Boy it was fun.

Hey, I don't want to get too XXX rated or something because this is a

hep group. I miss those days. Well yes, Kathy, my sons are sort of

grown up now. They are 17, 20, and 22. You know, I set a bad example

for them. Now one of them, the younger one, wants to be like me, but I

am screaming at him DO NOT be a PORN STAR!! I always have to watch out

for him, the younger one. I know he is almost an adult, but you know

this is true. You're a mom too, right? So its your own flesh and

blood, so you DON " T want anything to happen to them right?. Well I

learned my lesson in a BIG way. Now I am concerned. The others are

fine. They're going to college now. They are doing their own thing

that they want to do and ITS NOT PORN related thank God.

> OK Rich that is sure one of many ways to attract attention..Did I

read right " PORN STAR " !!! Come on your joking huh??? it is

almost impossible to get Hepatitis C from sex, that would have to be

some really rough and nasty stuff.. involving blood...Think about it,

you have tattoos, blood transfusions, IV drug users etc... The list

goes on Dear...And men don't pass it to their children OK.. I

personally had 3 kids and never passed it along to them OK...It is

very rare but it happens and from what I have read and been told. So

let me introduce myself, I am Kathy B.. from Milwaukee WI...Had

complete Transplant March 31st this year, I am the youngest TP in this

group..And please excuse the label making and designing efforts of

some of us OK..They are basically harmless, they just sound like they

have escaped from a nut ranch OK..So you have 3 sons wow..they must be

almost grown huh...Kathy B.
