Guest guest
Now .. we have a class of 520. Let's assume that most didn't marry within the class, so that is perhaps 500 families. Let's assume that these families averaged 3 children, so that is 1500 children. Now there seem to be five of those children with down syndrome so that is one in 300, rather than the normal average of 1 in 600. If the sample involved 50 children with down syndrome in an appropriately larger population .. rather than 5, it would be much more remarkable. Still it is an interesting observation and something that will bond a few classmates together. In my high school class of 62, I'm the only one I know of with a child with down syndrome. On the other hand from our little class we also have Chuck Knox who was a very successful pro football coach and me .. a parent of a wonderful young woman with down syndrome who helps define my success. Rick ... clearly the nerd of his high school class.
Guest guest
Guppy: Each school distr. is required by law (so they can receive Federal Funds) to account for all disabled children, and include all their disorders. Such as, if the child was blind and also had Downs syndrome. They must include each one. Then those stats are sent to the State Dept. of Ed each calendar year. You should contact the someone in that office. You might have to go thur several people to find out that information, they may even have it online on their website. Guest guest
, I will glad to provide everyone hear with statistics I uncover. Court is in session. 1) Lets look first at populations with HIGH rates of heart disease, and lets look at their total cholesterol. After all this is the number your doctor is concerned about. So lets address it . The folowing link is a map of the 10 worst areas of heart disease in the world. Look at the numbers and you will see that the Ukraine suffers the most. http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-by-highest-death- rate-from-heart-disease.html If Total serum cholesterol is to blame in heart disease, then it would make perfect sense to adjust our lipids to match populations that have low rates of heart disease. Agreed? OK! Let's look at total cholesterol levels in the Ukraine. As you view the color graphs in the following link, understand that a cholesterol level of 5.0 converts to 193 in the USA. http://www.who.int/infobase/reportviewer.aspx? rptcode=ALL & uncode=804 & dm=17 & surveycode=101333a24 Surprise, surpise, surprise! The Ukrainians have Total cholesterol levels below 200. Exactly what the doctor recommends adjust her cholesterol levels down to. Mr. Doctor, are you trying to push closer to cardiovascular event by lowering her cholesterol below 200? Are you trying to harm her? Or are you uninformed and conformed by big pharma? Guest guest
Thanks, Bobby, for the links. Looks like a wealth of material there to sift through. By the way, that second link does not bring up a map, but I'll do a search on the WHO site when I have time. I don't know what the chances are that my doctor will let me "educate" him (who do I think I am telling him that what he knows about cholesterol is all wrong?!), but he is the most open-minded, and least arrogant doctor I've ever known, so I'm going to give it a shot when I get the chance. And he does agree that statins can be dangerous for some people. Convincing him that Dr. Langsjoen is right when it comes to statins being the greatest scam of all time might take some doing, but I'm hoping he's at least heard of the good doctor over there in Tyler, and will be willing to carefully consider his viewpoint on the matter. I'm very much looking forward to being able to tell him at some point that a certain documentary is scheduled to air on the BBC, thanks to Pamela and her friend and Dr. Langsjoen, et al! ----- Fight back spam!
