Guest guest
Hi , I'm sort of new around here but I was very sad to read your post telling us how sick you have been of late. I've never had pneumonia before but I know all about severe headaches. I have had an intense headache for nearly 7 years now (started May 1, 1994) and I can sympathize with you over the headache you have now. I am also recovering from recent spinal fusion surgery, which was mostly successful but not without some residual problems. I really hope your "do nothing' doctor will help you with this. This is just my personal opinion here, but I would be taking percocet (or something similar) every 4 hours rather than every 6 hours if I didn't obtain some pain relief. I take oxycontin 3x a day and Lortab 3 to 4 times a day and I'm not afraid to take more if the level of pain dictates it. I do have to balance out my total consumption within each month because I cannot get refills for 30 days. I can't tell you to disobey your doctor's orders but I think something should be done to help you get some immediate relief from the pain. Sometimes I wish doctors could feel our pain as we endure it so they truly could know firsthand what it's like, rather than just reading in their books about pain. I think their lack of understanding (as opposed to their KNOWLEDGE about disease) is what keeps them from providing us better care and pain relief. Another thing is that so many doctors are so afraid to be blamed for a patient's misuse of--or addiction to--narcotic pain meds that they won't even consider prescribing what we need. I fired a doctor at a supposed Pain Management Clinic because all he wanted to do was discontinue my narcotics without even offering an alternative for pain relief other than to say "we can try several alternatives." I am not about to try his "alternatives" just for the sake of his opinions without actually being offered something immediate to address my pain. I reminded him that his Hippocratic oath begins with "DO NO HARM" and that he was harming me if he did not prescribe the meds I was taking. He gave in but only prescribed a 2 week supply. So I never went back to that guy and I didn't pay the final bill. Remember that doctors work for US, we do NOT work for them. Without patients, doctors have nothing to do except take each others vital signs. We have the power--in most cases--to hire the doctor we want. Granted, I don't really know how the Canadian system works so I need to remember that not everyone has the same options as others. Anyway, I hope you start to feel better soon. Let me know how you are doing when you can. God Bless, fbertaud@...

Guest guest
, Good luck with your studies & Gracie's MRI! I am thinking of you & praying for good results. I'm sorry Gracie has to go through all that she has to. You both are in my thoughts & prayers! Take care! Love, Barb Hi Hi all. It's been many, many moons since I've had time to post (lol) and I still don't really now. :-) I'm cheating and taking a break from the study. *giggles* It's been a really rough, busy time for me, so that's why I haven't been online much. I just wanted you all to know that I'm thinking of you all, and I'll get back on your posts as soon as I can. Gracie is supposed to be going in for her MRI (hooray!!!) this Thursday (5th). I guess I really yelled at the right person, since in the last week, we've gone from " I'm sorry, Ms. Hyten, but the doctor did not order an MRI " to " Yes, ma'am, the test is scheduled for one week from today " lmao Wish us well, we really need to find something out, as now the school is refusing her special ed services for next year, saying that she doesn't have a " reason " for being developmentally delayed, other than she's " unmotivated " to learn. Translated...she's too stupid and lazy to learn. Makes me soooo mad!! I've watched this poor baby tear herself up because she wanted to do the same things the other kids do, but can't. She gets so frustrated when she can't say what she wants to say, or when other people can't understand her that she pulls her own hair! She cries big alligator tears in her gymnastics class because she's not coordinated enough or strong enough to do the warm-up exercises that the other kids can do, and just wails to me " mommy, I just can't DO that! " . She wants so much to be like the other kids, no one in this world is gonna tell me that she's just too damn lazy to learn!!!!! WHEW.... Enough of that vent!! LOL I just wanted to update you all, and send out lots of big ****hugs**** I'll let you all know how the MRI goes. Hope you are all doing relatively well. *hugs* 1 ~~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~~ The Being Sick Community Visual problems with colors? Click the link below and select the modify link to your right. LMAO As for Gracie's school, they are VERY hung up on needing a diagnosis. Tis pretty stupid, if you ask me. I don't care WHY Gracie has the problems that she does, the fact is, that she does have them, so they need to get off their lazy asses and do something about it!! How's Jai doing, babes?? *hugs* 1 rachelvk67@... wrote: > we've gone from " I'm sorry, Ms. Hyten, but the doctor did not > > order an MRI " to " Yes, ma'am, the test is scheduled for one week > from > > today " lmao > > **Way to go , hope this all goes ok for her, poor pet. Guest guest
LOL Well I am sure not worried about your ability to handle the dickheads! The school thing did piss me off though, so I imagine that you are raring to go on it!!! It is stupid that they are so hung up on a diagnosis, the fact is she has those problems and they will just have to learn to deal with it. After all, that is thier job! Give 'em heaps! Same old, same old with Jai. Bloody Dr decided that he wanted me to double the Ditropan, as he " knew " that it was psychological. That Jai was supposedly in a habit of peeing and needed to break the habit. That he had some psychological baggage making him anxious (read - over protective, nuerotic mother) THe Ditropan was supposed to stop the bladder from being able to spasm, and thus would only empty when it was completely full and basically was forced out by the sheer amount in there. The Dr had made the (in my opinion right from the start, wrong) decision that Jai was peeing when he only had a drop or two in the bladder and the brain needed to be retrained not to send the message to void. The Ditropan was given to him when he was only going about 15 times per day. That was 6 weeks ago. I realised that it was no good fighting with them, they didnt believe me when I said that I thought that it was inflammation and that I was sure that the bladder was actually filling, and then taking many trips to the toilet to empty it, due to swelling/inflammation and he was pushing and grunting to get it out. (after about 5-10 trips the bladder would be empty, and then he would go an hour or more before starting up again, that is why I disagreed with thier assessment that he was peeing when there was only a drop in there. Why else would he go an hour or two without peeing, and then pee every few minutes for 10-20 minutes to empty it. Thier assessment didnt sound right to me - especially the bit about the nuerotic mother!! GRRRR) Anyway I realised that I wasnt going to be able to prove my theory without trying thier medication and having it fail. Which is precisely what has happened heh, heh, heh (gloat) I knew it would happen, it was just a matter of being patient. Jai had a break, for 6 weeks with symptoms mild. I kept reminding the smug Dr that his symptoms had abated before the Ditropan, but he decided last week that with Jai symptoms returning with a vengence, that we would double the Ditropan. I was not happy about it, but thought, ok, I will show him. Gave him double for a few days, and his peeing went from 20-30 to 42 per day, and stayed there. Told the Dr yesterday, and forced him to eat his words. Jai was taken off it last night, and although I didnt count today, I am sure that the peeing was LESS frequent. SO the Ditropan actually made it worse. The Dr was very confused and disappointed that he was wrong. He then wanted to put him back into hospital here, and perhaps do an ultrasound, colonoscopy, and another cystoscopy before referrring him on. I refused. I told him that last trip to hospital was a waste of time, that the nursing staff had not carried out his instructions, thus ruining the data (were supposed to be measuring every wee, and wouldnt even when he had requested and I hassled them etc) and it was stressful for Jai, and I certainly wouldnt let them operate on him again when they still didnt even have a clue what they were looking for. I asked for a referral. I wouldnt have let the Dr go this far with it, however I knew that we had to discount that theory once and for all, in order to be taken seriously. He has now been referred to a panel of specialists at Westmead hospital in Sydney. I am not sure how I feel about that, none of the Drs here know any of them, and there is no one here that is left to see. We dont even have a pediatric immunologist, urologist, or renal specialist here in Canberra. SIGH. I dont know. After 14 months of this, we are still no closer to the truth. I am not so sure that it is Reiters anymore, as he really should have arthritis with it. I dunno. Hopefully we will find someone to help us soon. THat was very longwinded, betcha you are sorry you asked how he was LOL! > > > we've gone from " I'm sorry, Ms. Hyten, but the doctor did not > > > order an MRI " to " Yes, ma'am, the test is scheduled for one week > > from > > > today " lmao > > > > **Way to go , hope this all goes ok for her, poor pet. Guest guest
I sure as heck wouldn't fault anyone for setting 12-week goals. For myself, though, I don't think about the 12 weeks. I'm just trying to engrain this in myself as a perpetual lifestyle (barring vacation breaks and such, of course). I *do* keep records of my progress though, which can be very encouraging and/or motivating. But like my doc saod, if it's cyst related, the exercises and meds may not help much. Denisa I have the same problem, have you tried doing Kegel? exercises, the doctor can give you instructions, it really helped me out as it does strengthen the bladder muscles Anne ~~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~~ The Being Sick CommunityMemorial Pagehttp://www.dreamwater.net/lovingmemory/Message Archives and Digest Attachment Pictures:-/messagesChat:- Scheduled Daily Chats at # on IRC DALnet./files/chat.htmBookmarks:-Add a website URL you have found useful./linksPersonal Complaints or problems:-Please contact a moderator email: -owner Subscription Details:-1) Individual email - means that every email sent to the list you receive.2) Daily Digest - sends you 25 messages in one single email for you to browse. Guest guest
Dear Denisa, I am very sorry about what you are going through. Just vent..... Take care! Ling Hi I haven't posted in awhile, thought I'd check in. My SS was approved and should be getting my retroactive check in a week or two. Medically, I am not doing so well. Started having incontenence, not just leaking, but full blown can't hold it imcontinence. I peed my bed every night for a week. I saw my new doc and she put me on a pill (the on that's advertised on TV), I've only been on it one day, but so far very little improvement. She dismissed my cyst as the problem, she chalked it up to weak muscles. I still get massive, debilitating headaches, maybe 2x a week I still slur my speech and walk wobbly on my feet. I hope now that I have the insurance, things can be solved. A nuerologist talked about putting a perment shunt in my head to keep the cyst drained. I am so tired of this. Tired of not being listened to, tired of being sick. Just tired. Not sure where Tom's River is off hand, I used to go down to the big dog show each year at Monmouth Track. would crross the Verrazano Narrows Bridge from Long Island to get there. I had a German Shepherd dog name of Caesar in those long ago days. Anne
