Guest guest
hi avinash, according to ewisdom crs which i went eastman post.gr.center(rem.partial denture design),the consultant pros said, Its veryunlikely to mk restseats on canine bec of thin enamel.so if u need rest seat on canine build up with comp.again he said this suits more to lower canine .bec of no contact points.for upper if u need support for kenndy 4 put rest seats on molar(mesial) or premolar. rest seats depth should be .75 to 1mm.but depth of the enamel on cing site nearly .5mm.so itsnt possble to ,make rest seats on it.further more among ant.teeth, canine is the only tooth u can gt suuport bec of thick long root.i think this might help u. From: Avinash <avinashnandan@...>Subject: REST SEAT doubt- MANIKIN EXERCISE-VERY URGENT Date: Thursday, 28 June, 2012, 9:10 REST SEAT prep doubts-BDJ book Dvenport and Basker categorically states tat modifying lower canines and lower anterior incisors (both centrals n laterals) for rest seat preps are not safe and instead of altering the tooth morphology, composites can be added.DOUBTS- 1. If at all rest seat preps are to be done on any of the lower anterior teeth(canines,CI,LI) and if they r shown in the LCD monitor screen on the MANIKIN EXAM, what to do?2. In designing RPD for kennedy class 4 cases, a few diagrams in the BDJ book davenport n basker show tat for indirect retention, the marginal ridges of canines have been used. Is it necessary to modify the marginal ridge of the canine by preparing a rest seat to incorporate a rest as indirect retainer? or Is it just a small flange of the metal tat just comes and sits over the marginal ridge of canine?Because, as given in Davenport n Basker, a Cingulum rest can be prepared on Maxillary canines. But in the MANIKIN EXAM, as many/all other exercises r given on upper teeth, its very evident/likely tat rest seat prep execrise will be given on lower jaw (as was done in Jan 2009 ore-2 exam). Hence, ITS VERY IMPERATIVE TAT this REST SEAT EXERCISE DOUBT is solved ASAP as it WILL BENeFIT CANDIDATES TAKING JULY ORE-2 in 15 days' time. PLS.KINDLY HUMBLy rEQUEST TO ANS THIS QuERY AT THE EARLIESTmany thanks,Avinash nandan
