Guest guest
hi all , 1st i wish u all good luck with the exam i want to take the decision of taking the exam ,but still have some questions, so would u pls help me with it< -on the ore site , they stated that they advise overseas-qualified (non-EEA) dentists who wish to take the ORE to investigate the employment opportunities available to them on registration.how could i check this ? and is it a must i.e. do u believe that after doing the ore exam ,i couldnt find jobs or wouldnt be able to take the visa? -two months ago, i started to search for the ore details and contacted different persons through mails and was surprised to have the following answers,so would u confirm me if this is true or not: (You must be aware that it is not as easy as it was previously to obtain a visa that would allow you to work in the UK. Recently there have been changes with regard to the rules for entry to DF1 training ( which you would need to do prior to being able to practice in an NHS dental practice) which state that you must not have more than 18 months postgraduate experience. The route you are considering has become much more difficult in recent years. Sorry to sound so negative but these are the facts) *so my question, what do u think about this and what is DF1 training? -You must have at least 1600 hours of clinical experience where you have personally treated patients in the dental chair. how could i count these 1600hrs, well i obtained my bachelor degree in 2003 and had my master degree and thesis work in 2010 ,worked 3 yrs in a hospital ? -If you pass the ORE you may need to do up to a year's vocational training (VT) in order to work for the NHS. what is the VT? and is it a must to have the VT? -i have read about the availability to work under temporary license or something like that ,after finishing part 1 of ORE,to what extent this is true and is it easy to find a job during this temporary period? -is working for the NHS is a must ,what about hospitals and private clinics? sorry to ask alot of questions , but i have to get sure that i m taking the right decision where i wont get lost after taking that long path, especially that I heard it is not an easy one , finally ,if i took the decision to start then, - is there any studying groups preparing for ORE part 1, where i can join ? Thanks alot in advance : )
Guest guest
welll well m preparing for part 1 and your concerns are making me nervous ; but your concerns are legitimate and i guess most of the students who are preparing for part 1 here wont be so sure about all the questions u raised; all i know is that ore is a lengthy process and it is like its better if we just focus on the current step and not worry about the things which we have to do after passing the current step ; its a risk involved lengthy process mate; From: no_reply Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2012 19:48:11 +0000Subject: concerning the ORE exam hi all , 1st i wish u all good luck with the exam i want to take the decision of taking the exam ,but still have some questions, so would u pls help me with it< -on the ore site , they stated that they advise overseas-qualified (non-EEA) dentists who wish to take the ORE to investigate the employment opportunities available to them on registration.how could i check this ? and is it a must i.e. do u believe that after doing the ore exam ,i couldnt find jobs or wouldnt be able to take the visa? -two months ago, i started to search for the ore details and contacted different persons through mails and was surprised to have the following answers,so would u confirm me if this is true or not: (You must be aware that it is not as easy as it was previously to obtain a visa that would allow you to work in the UK. Guest guest
hi on temporary registration you can only work in hospital in oral and maxillofacial surgery department only. DF1 is like internship we do after our four year of BDS. At present DF1 local graduate do it in dental practice only then they get their NHS number. Very soon in near future may be next year they will introduce DF2 which is year for local graduate to work in hospital. by doing that there will not be or very less chance for foreign graduate to get job in hospital on temporary registration. it is already getting difficult for foreign graduate to get job on temporary registration but in near future this situation will be getting worst. Recently home office had publish document in which they had taken out dentist from shortage. so they don't need any more dentist here as per home office.
