We called them saucers and I still have mine!!!!!

Someone watching for cars...hot cocoa, warm cookies...yes, yes,

yes...perfectly wonderful memories...and hanging mittens by the fireplace to get

dry.

You sure bring back some fun memories. We used to have 'coasters'; a

red plastic circular thing with handles on each side and you'd sit

and slide down a hill. Since Chicago gets a lot of snow; we were

able to do it in the front yard while someone watched for car in the

street coming.

We used to have our own little skating pond in the backyard. It went

up like a swimming pool; only about 8 inches tall. My Dad would

shape it different every year. Then you'd fill it like you would a

pool; and wait for it to freeze. That was always fun for us girls.

And like you; we'd come in and Mom would have hot cocoa with

marshmellows and sometimes warm cookies that she was baking while we

were outside.

Those simple days were awesome!
