Guest guest
Well, thanks for the prayers. I guess I probably will sell better than having someone else sell it for me. After I paruse the products, I'll be putting my time in at his table. I thought of a good selling point for the comment about them being too heavy. I clowned at one show where I was the only clown (just me and a sound man) for an hour. I had to go through everything in my bag before the other clowns showed up. There wasn't a barrier between me and the kids, so they would have been looking over my shoulder as I rummaged through my bag to find something else. The fact that it stood up by itself helped; everything was accessible. As for 's TB, it was he**, but I made it through. I thought I was going to have MIL, but she has decided she's watched my kids too much and feels likes she's raising them (I should drop them off at her house for the whole day, and see how fast she changes her mind). was hyper, running (or trying to) everywhere. was a bit spacey and wander-y, but at least he didn't run. We got called from the waiting room (which is done in dinosaurs), and flat out refused to move and hid under the seats. There was a couple in there with a baby, looked like their first, and I heard the nurse (a man) mumble something about look what you have to look forward to. This was after bumped the stroller and woke the baby up. I grab around the middle and lift him out from under the chairs, grab 's ear and PULLED him out of his seat (I hope they don't call child services on me). They were ok going down the hall, but when saw the needle, he balked. They had closed the door (after I mentioned it, because was about to escape while I was focused on ), and decided he wanted to sit in my lap, like when he gives blood. Of course, the exam table wouldn't do, it had to be the only chair in the tiny office that his brother happened to be sitting in. I had to sit him in my lap, hold his free arm, wrap my legs around his so he couldn't kick the guy giving the shot. The girl in the office was distracting , and they had to call another man in to hold the arm getting the needle. As I was walking out, I said Yea, we can go home. And I swear I heard a sigh of relief from the other guys. I felt like saying welcome to my life..... We hit the commissary, which was great behavior wise, except for the noise level of my kids. I kept passing the same man, who apparently was doing like me and shopping by the list and not the isles (meaning we were all over the store instead of just going down each isle). He kept grinning like he was saying just keep your chin up, it can't get much worse...I said at one point, " And this is a good day. " And to top it all off (sorry for the men on the list) I STARTED MY PERIOD TODAY!! Cramps big time! Then DH calls as I'm putting a GF pizza in the oven to say he'll be late. Last straw, I yelled at him that he could have cold pizza, because I was eating anyway. I did explain when he got home that it wasn't him. I have yet to tell about the day at the zoo - I mean hospital. Guest guest
no the social worker i had put me on home help and the social security people referred me to the autism association employment agency who were meant to help and they keep promising me things since halfway through last year but i have come to expect that it will be lies after all this time of empty promises. Guest guest
Do you think it would help if you went back to social security and told them that you are not getting what you need? Please let me know if I can help you. Hmm...(scratching head) Who paid for the social worker? Maybe you can retrace your steps. Meaning, if the ss office gave you the employment agency, go back to the ss office. If no help there, go back to the social worker's office. If no help, go back to which ever agency helped with the social worker. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Complain loudly to each organization. Something I've always told my brother to say to those kinds of places is " These programs are supposed to help high-functioning autistic people be more independent. If you take away services that help me to become more independent, I am forced to become dependent on society. " That usually works for him. Please keep in touch often, I want to make sure you are okay. Hugs,

Guest guest
i have been trying for 3 years to get part time work and adequate help from services. finally i have given up and am seeking work. my interview today went well and i have to be at Observation Day at 8.15am tomorrow and if i do well on that then i have the job. the employment agency is part of the Autism Association and social security gives a number indicating level of disability which they need for beaureucratic (spelling?) reasons and before i chose the Autism Association one they sent me to a different one that tried to make me go fruit picking which is a stupid job choice for my set of health problems. the social worker was part of the mental health team at the hospital i was in and she referred to home help which is a private business but i am a government subsidy or something client. i am sick of having my life in limbo while i wait for organisations to do what they are paid to do. i will just go and get my own damn job and if i end up back in the psych unit from it then i will go through it all again with services. i am on disability pension and as far as social security cares that is all a person needs to live which is not true but that is the law. we get $5.40 each month for Pharmaceutical Allowance and that does not even buy two PBS prescriptions per month. medicines that are not on PBS are just impossible to afford. social security here does not modify amounts of payments even in hardship the way they see it i have a house and not everybody my age does so i should not be complaining. if the job goes ok i will be able to afford my expenses with or without the disability. i might even be able to afford driving lessons too. Guest guest
Hi CZ. My thoughts & prayers are with you. Just a thought, if that one doesnt work out, why not try a pet store or animal shelter, zoo, bird sanctuary!- they would be so lucky to have your help. I worked for a veterinarian once and loved it. I really wasnt tough enough for pulling calves tho. lol You have so many talents, it would be nice if you could enjoy them somehow and get paid. I understand, my house has been like my security blanket. I waited tables in a truck stop, on the night shift, to keep it when my husband left. And worked in a meat market in the daytime, till I got on my feet. Both gross jobs, but it paid the bills for a while, till I found something better- and I'm still living in this house. You go girl! Guest guest
CZ, Being a bird lover myself, I get that too. Not budgies specifically, but mainly I deal with parrots. I let the owners know that if they don't quarantine their birds, they will get Newcastle, and then no one will enter their shop for fear that they give it to their own birds, and therefore they will lose business. They never listen. I would love to work with animals, but Newcastle is so rampant here that I'm afraid to bring anything home to Tilly. Oh...forgot to tell you all, I believe that there is something here in the apartment that makes Tilly lose/pluck her feathers. When I took her to Oregon, she let them all regrow, and she looked beautiful. Even with the car accident! When I brought her home, they were all gone within a day. We are looking to move back to Oregon, since she seems to prefer it there. We can't move for another 5 months though.....nothing much to keep me here anymore. Jessi moved...so I don't have friends here, why not move? Hugs, Re: Re: prayer request i already have tried all those places. i get sneezy from animals with fur so i would not want to work with them but no pet shop will employ me becuase i know too much about birds and i am quick to point out where they do things wrong. i would not want to be paid to work in a company where they do not quarantine new animals and they see them just as money not as living creatures. i am horrified by the way most places even bird specialty places treat their merchandise. i did get that job today but i will not be able to take it. the day starts at 7.30am in the city and finishes at 6.30pm and that would be stupid for my body and mind and even worse for my poor birdies. while i was at the mall where Observation Day was today i went into a pet store and politely told the woman that her budgies were sick and she said " what on earth gives you that idea? Guest guest
is she exposed to lead or heavy metals? i know that can cause problems in birds from stuff around the house. talking of birds other than budgies my sun conure is cuddling on my shoulder right now. he gave me a fright when i woke up and came to check my email because the pain was stopping me go back to sleep and i thought i had locked his cage last night because he was being good and snoozing in there but i was doing my email and suddenly there was a screech and he landed on my shoulder from his cage. that was maybe half an hour ago and he is still cuddling there under my hair and preening. i love this bird. he is just the sweetest prettiest bird i could wish for. Guest guest
Hi Darcy, I will pray for Kaitlyn.... impressions are a yucky thing. I always gag, so I can't imagine how ANY kid (DS or not!) would be able to do it :-) I hope she just shows them! We really had to push the eye doc into bifocals for (which was what he suggested for her eye problem, but had never had a young child with DS use bifocals correctly/successfully). She adapted immediately and uses them easier then her grandma! Good luck tomorrow. , mom to (7), (5 DS), and (3)
