Guest guest
Dear Maki, welcome to this group! I´ve just gotten here some days ago myself, but right now I feel it´s really helping me. I haven´t heard all the Podcasts yet. I´ve finished number 8 yesterday. But I´m doing it step by step. At the moment I´m doing the " cold turkey " on the sugar. I think that´s what is saying in episode 6? It´s my day two today. Yesterday was quite easy. I wasn´t even craving for chocolate or other sweets. Let´s see what´s it like today! Have a wonderful day. Guest guest
Welcome and congratulations on your day two of being sugar free. I stumbled upon at www.stumbleupon.com a site call habitforge (www.habitforge.com) kind of an accountability partner that helps you keep track of of habits you want to develop or eliminate. One of the things I've learned and maybe its true for you too is that when my diet is balanced with good healthy foods, plenty of vegetables and protein, and I'm getting regular exercise that my cravings for sugar go away. That's saying a lot as some who can build meals around cake and cookies. I've been a couple of weeks now without any sugar cravings, without even a thought about it. The real test was when I went to pick up the Thankgiving Day desserts yesterday, I bought two of my favorites (slices only, to keep excess from being around after the holidays) and I haven't even dipped in or been tempted to test. Keep up listening to the podcasts and enjoying each small success, as they will in time become a lifetime of successes. Happy Thanksgiving. ________________________________ From: schneeblume23 <surfer-sardinia@...> weightloss Sent: Tue, November 24, 2009 11:38:07 PM Subject: Re: Hi Everyone!!  Dear Maki, welcome to this group! Guest guest
Wow, cold turkey on sugar. I don't eat a lot of sugar, but I don't think I would do well cold turkey. I try not to do things that I can't sustain, but I know I should say no permanently to white flour and CAKE. I should just shove cake directly down my jeans, as it end up on my muffin top immediately. I have noticed that, more than anything else, cake just slaps the weight on me. I wish I could convince myself that I was allergic to it - it is a terrible reaction, after all - but I manage by only eating the real, from scratch stuff, and making sure it does not stay in the house. I know I totally lose it when I am hungry so I am going to eat a couple of hours before going to family thanksgiving! I won't tell my mother, of course, but maybe have fresh green beans, fruit, a big salad, etc. This sounds really silly, but I think I need to just practice turning down food. Turning it down and really not wanting it - not because I am being a martyr - but because it just is not appealing - and not giving it a second thought. Does that make sense? I tell myself, " oh this is a special food, I need to eat it now because it is a holiday " or might hurt someone's feelings or I may get hungry later, or some other excuse. It is hard for me to even THINK about turning down my favorite foods. But if I can do it - even if it is because I am totally not hungry - then maybe I can do it when I am bored, or eating out, or whatever. I will try to " imprint " that feeling - of looking at something wonderful and admiring it but not wanting to eat it. Like a beautiful but expensive dress - lovely to think about, but the cost is just too high.
