Guest guest
I thought I would relate a funny (I think anyway) thing that happened to me. I was out weed whipping on a Saturday a couple weeks ago. I finished and was standing talking to my wife when all of a sudden I heard a beeping sound that was new to me. I put my ear toward my ICD and it got louder. Being this was the first time my little buddy tried to talk to me, although we have been together for over a year I got pretty excited. I went in the house to call the clinic. When I got inside the beeping stopped. I called, and the nurse on call contacted me a few minutes later. It was one of the techs who I knew pretty well. We talked and she thought that checking out the unit was the thing to do. She had the protable interagator with her, so she offered to come out to my house instead of us both going down to the hospital. She showed up about a half hour later. The unit checked out just fine, with nothing recorded. We then went out to my garage to see if the weed whip interferred with the ICD. So there I was, all wired up, standing in my garage with my weed whip running, holding it up to my chest, with the tech holding the wand next to me. I am glad I live on the outskirts of town, neighbors may not have understood. Needless to say, everything checked out just fine. Cheryl sail that she would call CPI on Monday to see if they had any input, and be sure to call her if something else came up. The next day I was resting and I heard a beeping noise come out of my closet. I looked at the clock and it was exactly 24 hours after my ICD beeped. Kind of strange. I ventured into the closet to find a new $5.00 watch that I bought to wear while doing yard work having an alarm that was going off. I did not even know that it had an alarm. At least Cheryl has a story to tell people. She was not even upset that she had to come out to my house when I sheepishly called her the next day. It was difficult for her to contain her giggles, but she made sure I would call if I heard another sound I could not explain coming from what I think is my chest. I have to say she provided the best service I have heard of for ICD checks.
