Guest guest
Did anyone read the March issue of Consumers Guide " Are You Taking Too Much Medicine? " They quote several studies, showing among others: Vasotec: Manufacturer's Recommended Dose: 5 mg a day Lower effective dose: 2.5 mg a day I am taking: 20 mg a day (2x10mg) Pravachol: Manufacturer's recommended Dose: 10-20 mg a day Lower effective does: 5 mg a day I am taking: 10 mg a day Mevacor: Manufacturer's recommended dose: 20 mg a day Lower effective dose: 10 mg a day My wife takes: 20 mg a day I am 75, unexpectedly diagnosed with Cong.Heart Failure last year, (Ejection Rate: 25) and have defibrillator which so far has never zapped. I am also taking 12.5 mg Coreg (2 x 6.25 mg) a day 0.25 mg Lanoxin every second day. Neither of these are listed in the article. The article claims that most physicians rely on manufacturer's recommendations and implies that many patients are over-medicated. I would be interested to hear from those who also take these medications and whether they have experienced any side effects.
