HIV among the migrant workers. Urgent action needed.

Dear Members

We in Sant Nischal Singhji Foundation (SNSF) have been crying hoarse that

incidence of HIV which is to a significant extant among migrant communities

working in industries in Maharashtra, Haryana, Himachal and Punjab- most of them

come from UP, Bihar and Nepal. In Haryana there is a good number from Orissa,

Rajasthan and MP too.

No one in NACO, ILO responded to our plea that if pre-emptive action is not

taken in Haryana, HP, Punjab, Dharwar, Dewas etc. with resident labour pockets,

we would soon have to make large outlays in damage control as we are impelled to

in Maharashtra, TN, Karnataka, AP. Before it is too late lets get the act

togethet - if you get a peep into the horrible work and living conditions of the

1000s of workers in Gurgaon you wll know where that will land us.
