Guest guest
Howdy again Marge; The cause of my VT attacks has been assigned to a disruption of the electrical pathways in my heart due to scar tissue from a miocardial infarction I suffered in 1986. I have had several more " cardiac events " since then. I was 53 years old when the VT announced its presents with a sudden death attack. The ICD was implanted the day after the attack. As far as the sustained/non sustained VT, I am afraid I do not completely understand the phrase. I have never had to be defibbed at the 120-136 bpm rate. It stopped of its own accord. I have had these low grade attacks last as long as 6-8 hours at a time, with sinus rythm being mystically restored at my heart's own whim. As I said before, the medicines are presently working well with no VT of any kind for a while. I am not a doctor, but I would suggest that your husband avail himself of an EP test if at all possible. I know that his cardiologists are sure that they are following the correct procedures. I have however yet to read anything in any of the large stack of " heart stuff " that I have read in the last 12 years that led me to believe that any doctor can give a guarantee that he/she can keep a sudden death attack from happening. I don't think that anyone with an ICD implant would argue against an EP test under your husband's circumstances. By the way, at this time last year the ICD had saved my life 7 time in the month of December alone. That's what I meant about being happy at the prospect of enjoying another one. Again, you and your husband have a happy, healthy Christmas!
