Guest guest Posted June 3, 2005 Report Share Posted June 3, 2005 INTERNEWS SEEKING TO HIRE PROJECT ASSISTANT, NEW DELHI Internews is an international non-profit organization that works to improve access to information for people around the world by fostering independent media and promoting open communications policies. One focus of Internews programs worldwide is providing journalists and media professionals with in-depth training on health journalism, including HIV/AIDS reporting. In India, Internews is conducting a series of trainings on HIV/AIDS reporting with members of the Indian Women's Press Corps. We are seeking a short term, part time consultant based in New Delhi to work as the Project Assistant to support this 6 month program from June-October 2005. GENERAL FUNCTION The Project Assistant will be based in New Delhi and will provide on-site logistical and administrative support to a series of training activities focused on HIV/AIDS reporting for members of the Indian Women's Press Corps (IWPC). Over the course of the project, Internews will hold a series of training events for journalists at the IWPC and will conduct two research trips outside of New Delhi. The Project Assistant will work part time as a consultant from June-October, 2005. There is no travel in this position and the consultant must be able to work from home and have access to a computer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES .. Assist with the coordination of training activities: includes organizing logistics; coordinating scheduling; preparing training materials, etc. .. Serve as liaison between Internews and IWPC. .. Provide support to Internews Technical Health Advisor and HIV/AIDS Journalism Trainer during training preparations and provide on-site support during the training activities in New Delhi .. Assist with gathering program evaluation information including tracking and compiling all the reports done by trainees, collecting training tools, handouts and curriculum materials. .. Ensure all project spending is done in accordance with approved budget amounts. .. Manage on-site project expenditures: includes collecting receipts; producing monthly expense report; submitting report to Internews Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand. REQUIRMENTS .. Ability to start immediately .. Ability to work from home; has access to own computer .. Minimum of 2 years experience in donor-funded project management .. Fluent written and spoken English and Hindi .. Relevant university degree .. Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel computer programs .. Experience working in New Delhi, India ..
