Request info: HIV Diagnosis and support services in New Delhi

Dear FORUM,

I am a new subscriber to this FORUM.

The whole thing is moving around to my brother. He contacted TB few

years back and got treated as per the advise of doctors. The

medicines were stopped only after doctor asked us to do so. In

between, he also suffered by the jaundice and was admitted to a

hospital. Intravenous medicines were administered to him.

Now, I find that all of his faculty and strength has gone down and

find that he does not have the immune system at all. He can not

prperly walk, eyesight weak, hearing aids has ben provided, no energy

left. He is around 40 years old. Myself is 54.

He lives in joint family and no body suspect that he might be having

this type of disease. I also do not like to discuss this matter with

the others.

He is married, has no kid.

His wife may resent to blood test and may create complication.

Presently, she is quite healthy and I do not want her to go in this

details. She may create poblem if she would be asked for blood test

etc. and also create ther problem. Though she can not stand on her

own because she is not an educated girl. But she must be provided

shelter and she shold live with respect in the family. There is no

body in her parental family. I do not want to disturb any relation.

Further, the condition suggests that my brother is no longer sexually

active.

Now, I plan to bring him at Delhi for through medical check up and

identified AIIMS for the purpose. After diagonosis, he would be back

to our residence and medicines etc. would be provided to him on

regular basis.

I would like to know whether any other centre are at Delhi which is

fully equipped for diagonosis the patient. If yes, than the contact

address.

Also, I would like to know the cost of treatment to be incurred by

me. I do not want that my brother die without getting medical

treatments he deserves and my conscience would never forgive for not

helping him in this matter.

I had tried Cipla and Ranbaxy to know more about it but could not get

reply.

So, I am at Delhi, India. My present purpose to know about the AIDS

clinics at Delhi which must not fleece unnecessary. Whether AIIMS is

the correct destination. Further, approximation cost of his yearly

medicines would be. Is there organisation at Delhi which can provide

the medicine free of cost or on sharing basis.

And at last, how to handle trauma if the suspicion comes true. I

have tracked down AIDS INDA e FORUM from the net. I am a rgular

visitor to net.
