Guest guest
MP bashers ... nne I think they look great. Have you done any loaves yet? When you do a loaf with different colored chunks embedded and then slice the loaf, it's really cool how they look!! You don't have to do a large loaf either. Go to Wal-Mart and go to the kitchen supplies aisle and find the drawer dividers. I bought one that is about 2" wide x 10" long and 2" deep. It holds about 2 lbs of soap. Experiment with that one and you'll have a ball. I think the best looking ones are if you use an opaque soap with clear colored chunks or clear base with colored opaque chunks. And if the colors bleed, that's OK too because you get some really cool effects. M Basically, I went to and typed in "melt and pour soap" to see what I could find. Just wanted to see what sites were out there and maybe see if I could find some examples of other people's MP soap to give me ideas for my own craft projects. Well, a BUNCH of sites came up that talked about how you can't make true soap without lye, how MP soap isn't really soap and is just detergent, etc. etc. I started to get frustrated. The stuff that I make, I consider that soap! I'm not letting it bother me. I know that I am not buying the best MP soap base. The reason behind that is because I am still learning about all of this and wanted to buy some cheap stuff first to experiment with so that if I messed up it wouldn't be a big deal. In the coming months, though, I'm going to start ordering some good-quality MP soap base off the Internet, but right now I've been spending WAY too much on hobby supplies, and I need to back away for a while!!! But yes, I know that I need to buy better soap base, and I plan to do that in the near future. I experimented the other day with embedding things in my soap bars. They turned out ... well, interesting. Basically, I cut up/shaved the soap bars that I didn't really like and that didn't turn out very well and used them in other bars of soap. I was just experimenting. I'm attaching some photos of what I did ... I think they're pretty, but kind of unusual. The first one is chocolate-mint; the second one is raspberry-honey-almond; the third one is raspberry-mint; and the fourth one is sun-ripened raspberry. nne (Albany)
