Guest guest
Hey folks. I was at 's bookstore this weekend browsing through Latin dictionaries and grammar books. For a while, I have wanted to find one of those old Latin phrases whose wisdom would reflect some or all of my personal philosophy regarding my chiropractic work ( and my philosophy could simply be described as both vitalistic and wholistic). The idea was to have a simple Latin phrase which I could put on stationary etc....something that would remind myself and my staff of the big picture and would also peak interest among patients etc...Well, I have never found such a phrase, so I MADE UP MY OWN....."Sanitas Innatus Est"....I never took latin so I don't know 100% if the conjugation is proper nor if the verb is is the correct location....I am pretty sure it is, but I was hoping one of you guys/gals took some latin could give feedback. Basically the phrase means any of the following and more: 1--A Healthful state (health) comes from within 2--Good health is inborn/ good health is your birthright 3--Health flows from the innate/ health flows innately/wellness happens innately 4--Wellness is the natural state of the body 5--Healthfulness is natural (by extension sickness is un-natural ) As I understand it, the word 'innate' literally means "inborn" and its cousin, the word 'natural' comes down from latin and basically means "the state or condition at birth" so indirectly when one uses the word "nature" he/she is literally (via latin) actually referring to "the state of the world when it was born"...so, if a granola-crunching Roman wanted to say: "I love nature" they would literally have to say "I love the state/condition of the world when it was born" (Romans, christian or pagan weren't too big into the big-bang theory obviously) Intersting stuff eh? I doubt I am the first doc who has coined this term so i won't trademark it ;-) I'll put it out there in the public domain for all of my colleagues to use as you please! I hope the grammar is correct.....but, until I hear otherwise i am signing my name......
