Guest guest
I have a simple method for educating the public regarding gatekeepers. I have a handout for patients and everyone else who is interested. On one side of the sheetI have the article from Dynamic Chiropractic entitled: Med Grads Flunk Musculoskeletal Exam 82% " Failed to Demonstrate Basic Competency " I then copy the first page of the study cited in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery on the back. The abstract and Summary are underlined on the front. The effect is wonderful. The public is becoming aware that musculoskelatel problems are all treated with NSAIDS. This confirms that the reason is lack of training...a problem which chiropractors do not have. The article can be found on Chiroweb at http://www.chiroweb.com/archives/17/02/31.html Freeman can tell you how to download the study: Freedman KB, Bernstein J. The adequacy of medical school education in musculoskeletal medicine. J Bone and Joint Surg, 80A:1421-1427. Oct. 1998.
