Guest guest
I have to admit that I am one of the many Americans who do NOT like vegemite. One of our friends from in between Sydney and Canberra sent us some and some of those clay pigeons that are called ANZAC cookies. I liked the cookies even if they were hard to chew but couldn't handle the vegemite. The penpal (who also has a son with DS) was terribly offended. He wasn't too impressed with Oreos (even though he wanted to try them). He says they cost $7.00 a bag there. Elaine Re: Dinner help Vegemite is a concentrated yeast spread, and has lots of vitamin B. Smears very well onto the tele and childeren too - if the jar has a big enough opeing for a childs hand and it is left on the kitchen bench and mummy is in bed It is black and reasonably smelly. It used to be made of beer hops Us Aussies used to own it, but now the US owns vegemite-cracks me up, as I have not met an American that likes it yet hehehe. it is nice on toast. Oh, Maverick is into peanut butter and jelly tortillas! He wants them in his lunch, he wants them for snack after school and he will often have them for dinner as an alternate to what we are having! Guest guest
Bridget, too eats a fairly balanced diet, although limited. She does not like mac and cheese, and will eat some things at school and not at home. She likes her hamburgers (I limit the cheese because of constipation), chicken nuggets, hot dogs, french fries, pizza and spaghetti. She used to eat pancakes and waffles but prefers chicken nuggets, ham, or turkey even for breakfast. Our newest fad is pita (pocket) bread. I even have her eating peanut butter on pocket bread. The oddest thing is that she will only drink grape Wylers (like Kool Aid) drink. She will not drink the Kool Aid brand, too strong. I and my own sugar and keep it sort of tart. For veggies, I usually have to feed her these, but she doesn't fight me on it, just will not feed them to herself. I also put veggies on her pizza and in her spaghetti sauce. We do okay with fruit. She especially likes Mango, go figure. Kids are funny. I have found Bridget does not need very much to eat. I also have gone to letting her eat when she is hungry. We have gotten into the cookie mode and she will not eat lunch and then come back and ask for Oreos. I do tell her she has to eat her lunch first, lol. mom to Bridget 9 ds __________________________________________________

My grandmom used to make zucchini parmesean instead of eggplant paremesean (another favorite!) My mother in law loved to make frittatas with zucchini. I love to take a bunch of summer veggies, including zucchini of course, stir fry, sprinkle a package of Good Seasons dry Italian dressing into the veggies ..... scrumptious!!! I have saved the Mcs happy meals toys and donated them to the treasure box for Resource at Sara's school. Sara could careless about them so its not hard to snatch them up and stick them in a big bag.
