Hi Deb,

said she infuses her St 's Wort by adding the blossoms to a jar,

weighing them down with marbles and then covering them with her oil of

choice. She covers the top with a paper towel and sets it in a cool, dark

place to infuse. She lets it sit about 6 weeks. When asked about adding

new herb to the infusion, said you can keep changing the flowers

until you get the strength you desire but she did not say that she

personally did this. I think that by using her method of weighing down the

plant material you can get a potent infusion because you would only be

using a minimal amount of oil.

I was curious as I had about 9 different folk's opinions on this two years

ago and I am presently in the process of experimentation on these methods. I

also added about 1 teaspoon, of everclear(from our trip to NC :D ) to help

maintain a good ph if you will. I made up 4 Qts so far and Bob used some of

my salve on my poor lumbar region after spending the day bent from the waist

in my garden. It numbs very well. I also found some interesting info that it

was used during the crusades as a healer for wounds as well and St. was

one of the leaders at the time... how interesting
