And if he shows up in one of your cases where your patient is represented, tell the attorney to go get White's stuff from the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. They have numerous documents on him, including his income from DME's, the disclosure of which is a pet peeve of the good doctor.

Dear Colleagues,

Thought you might like a good laugh - I came across a letter from 1987 today from the above named retired neurosurgeon turned notorious defense medical examiner. Dr. White has always had the most extreme opinions of any examiner I have ever encountered.

In this letter to a claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual White wrote "My advice against the use of acupuncture hardly needs explaining medically. I think that, perhaps, you have been corresponding with too many chiropractors and witch doctors."

White exemplifies the worst egocentrism in medicine - all medicine is good, and all non-medicine is bad, regardless of evidence of efficacy.

If anyone comes up against this gentleman I will be happy to send a copy of the letter for cross-examination to demonstrate grossly ludicrous bias.

Re why: I'm not licensed to make diagnoses, but it might be litigation neurosis.

Re the amount: I think he makes a few hundred thousand per year.
