Guest guest
Junoon star for fusion of hearts to combat AIDS HT Correspondent New Delhi, August 11 IN A gesture of bonhomie, Pakistani rock star Salman Ahmed made an appeal to Indian youth to help spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. Releasing a video of fusion music in Delhi on Wednesday, Ahmed said cultural and sports icons of India and Pakistan could play a vital role in bringing people of both the countries closer and that the time had come to fight social evils like HIV/AIDS together. Though other members of his band Junoon did not accompany him, Ahmed said they were all working for the cause in their respective ways. Explaining the purpose behind making the music video, the Pakistani rock star said, " Music is far more articulate and has a universal language which people across geographical barriers understand. This video was a small effort to bring together the people of the two countries. " Speaking after a special screening of the video at the United Nations office, he said, " Sports and cultural icons have huge followers in both India and Pakistan and they can set up communication channels between the two nations to jointly fight diseases like HIV/ AIDS, which needed concerted efforts. " " Huge emotional outburst and social transition took place in Pakistan during the Indian cricket team's last visit which reflected how the sports icons can play vital role in removing social evils. Their small gesture has tremendous impact, " Ahmad, who is also UNDP Ambassador for HIV/AIDS in Pakistan, said. The video Ghoom Tana captures a man's journey in the search of his roots from Lahore to Patiala with vocals by Ahmed and Shubha Mudgal with noted actor Naseeruddin Shah providing a voiceover http://www.htnext.com/news/5922_942680,001500230000.htm
