Guest guest Posted September 20, 2004 Report Share Posted September 20, 2004 Job Posting: Regional Coordinator in Karnataka Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) / India Canada Collaborative HIV/AIDS Project (ICHAP) is seeking two suitable candidates for the position of Regional Coordinators, Counselling Supportive Supervision System. There two regional coordinators will be in-charge of the North and South regions in Karnataka respectively. They would report to the Deputy Director in-charge of VCTCs in KSAPS. Candidates for this position need to have good knowledge of HIV/AIDS issues, good managerial skills to coordinate and facilitate the various activities of the VCTCs & SSTs, be willing to travel to the various districts in their region and with ability to deal with different stakeholders in the project at state-level, i.e., the Supportive Supervision Team (SST) & Peer Support Team (PST) members and the VCTC teams. Regional Coordinator (North) The Regional coordinator (North) would be responsible for the following tasks and would report to the Deputy Director, VCTC in KSAPS: Provide direct supervision to the VCTC counsellors across Karnataka. Coordinate with SST members & its activities – bimonthly visits and meetings. Coordinate with Medical Officers (VCTC) & District Surgeons. Make periodic site visits especially to sites experiencing difficulties. Organise and conduct regional level training programmes. Implement state level decisions in the respective regions. Coordinate between VCTC and PPTCT activities. Assist DD, VCTC in developing policy and working procedures for Taluka VCTC / PPTCTs in consultation with the advisory committee. Capacity building for counsellors, SST and PST in consultation with DD, VCTC and the advisory committee. Network with regional level government programmes such as RCH, RRTC, TB programme and with non- government agencies. Monitoring and evaluation of VCTC and PPTCT functioning. Report to VCTC in-charge regarding functioning, problems, etc. Assist DD, VCTC in developing policies and plans that meet the diverse needs of the region. Would be stationed in Dharwad - Hubli. Regional Coordinator (South) In addition to the above-mentioned responsibilities Regional coordinator (South) would have certain coordination responsibilities in terms of assisting DD, VCTC in program planning, monitoring and evaluation of the Support system. More specifically it would involve the following tasks: Assist DD, VCTC in developing policy and in planning and implementing services, developing procedures.Coordinate between KSAPS and field level staff regarding policy – new initiatives, recruitment, and salaries. Liaison with the manpower agencies to ensure that salaries are released on time and vacancies are immediately filled in. Education and Experience Doctoral Degree or Master's degree in Psychology / Social Work required. Minimum two years work experience in HIV/AIDS field.Working (read & write) knowledge of Kannada. Should have had some experience in managing projects. Proven ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment that encourages open communication and a diversity of viewpoints. Ability to generate and communicate new ideas. Demonstrated commitment to support team and organizational goals. Knowledge of office procedures required. Highly organized with abilities to prioritize and multi-task and take initiative. Possess strong accuracy, attention to details and ability to follow- through. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy with the ability to interface with staff, other administrators, senior management and willing to be part of a diverse team. Ability to work under pressure, meet multiple deadlines, and troubleshoot and problem solve. Demonstrated ability to provide supportive supervision, including networking to expedite work and projects. Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgment. Proficiency in word processing software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Acrobat) & Internet / emailing would be an added advantage.
