Guest guest
Dear FORUM, The following news clip appeared in the Telugu daily paper " VAARTHA " on 10th September, 2004 reflects the humanity of three poor women in the face of adversity. (NARASIMHA SWAMY THAMATAM) The Mothers with the heart of Mother Theresa How many women in the world have the mercy and magnanimity for the AIDS orphaned children in this age of Stigma and Discrimination. The tears in the eyes of the two helpless children by names Gopi (8 yrs) and Sarojini (6 yrs) at the pyre of their diseased father shaken a poor women by name Mrs. Shivamma when their own mother left the children for their own fate, relatives expressed the helplessness. When the society is compartmentalized with narrow walls of caste, colour, creed, sex, religious and regional feelings there is ample space for the two children in the (heart) small house of a poor women who has been living with a drunkard husband, a widow daughter, a married daughter along with her husband and an unmarried daughter. Inspired by the act of Mrs. Shivamma, a poor widow by name Mrs. Bramaramba of the same town came forward to look after the two orphaned girls namely Hemalatha (13 yrs), Meenakshi (11 yrs ) along with her two own daughters. In this age when the female children are being killed in the womb itself her courage two adopt two girls deserve a gallantry award. Mrs. Naga Malleshwari of the same town shared the of the heart of mother to two sisters orphaned by an AIDS victim by name Mrs. Uma Devi. If these incidents can ignite the hearts of many childless couples, rich and affluent in the society the orphaned children need not become street children more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. ARTIDS a local NGO deserves all the credit which inspired and influenced the three women to shoulder this noble mission. _______________ I pray the God almighty to give the three mothers with the heart of Mother Theresa enough strength and resources.
