HIV/AIDS is fast emerging as a crisis with serious social, financial

and health implications. A sustained media campaign is required to

analyze and strengthen prevention and cure strategies as well as

counter the deep fear, stigma and discrimination surrounding the disease.

Action Aid invites experienced, focused and socially sensitive

journalists (working as well as freelancers) to write on the issue of

HIV/AIDS, under their `Media Fellowship Programme'. The aim of the

fellowship is to encourage writing on the various facets of the issue.

Your articles should reflect the following aspects

struggles, stories and larger realities that confront people living

with HIV and AIDS; rights of people with HIV/AIDS

government programmes and policies, on HIV/AIDS prevention and cure

Stigma and discrimination

Expectations from the Fellow

write three stories/articles (number flexible in case of in-depth and

extensively researched articles) within a stipulated time period of

one month

get them published in the mainstream print media such as

National/Regional newspapers, magazines and journals

The total number of fellowships is ten and will include an honorarium

of Rs 10,000 plus travel allowance for each Fellow.
