Guest guest
Hi a, I know that you have had both knees replaced.....do you ever still have pain in one or both of them????? The worse pain that I have is when I get up from a sitting position, putting pressure on them. I am leary to call the ortho because when I saw him in December and told him that I was still having pain, he said well that I was 8 weeks post op and in another 4 I would be 12 weeks, meaning that I should be all better by now. I know that we have other diseases going on that may be contributing to this condition, but I wonder if I have a problem or is it in my head?????? In fact Saturday, my left knee went out on me and today, the pain was so bad I got sick to my stomach. I try so hard to wait until evening to take any pain medication, but I have found myself have to break down and take something during the day because it is just too much to take. Right now it is impossible to do water exercises as it is only 73 degrees here. This all started to happen right around the holidays when my asthma was so very very bad. Thank you for any input that you might have. Hope you are hanging in there after the holidays. Gentle, tender, angel hugs, Deb
Guest guest
Deb: I do know for a fact the even though you have had a knee replacement for some reason you tend to still have pain in that area. I myself do. The dr. told me the muscles around the knee will still ache, although, it sure feels like it did before the surgery. The funny part is, now that I am on Arava my right knee (the bad one) no longer hurts as bad as the operated one!!. Keep your chin up and hang in there. Guest guest
Deb, I don't have any pain in either of my replaced knees. I do get stiffness and minor swelling but absolutely no real pain. I was painfree 3-4 weeks post surgery. The pain I had 1 week after surgery was better than what I had been living with. They get achy, especially after shopping, but the pains prior to replacement were unbearable, so this is heaven to me. One knee doesn't like to be straightened all the way, and then let me stand on it. If I'm on the couch with my legs straight, when I try to stand, I have to stand for a minute before taking a step. The doctor thinks there is scar tissue in there, but no way am I letting him go in to find out! As I continue to sit with it straight, the range is getting better. I am very concerned about your continued pain and also the instability of the joint, especially with all the recalls on the knee replacement. I don't see how your asthma has any effect on your knee stability or the pain you are still in. Have your knees been x-rayed? Do they show anything? a Re: [ ] PAULA-knees Hi a, I know that you have had both knees replaced.....do you ever still have pain in one or both of them????? Guest guest
So sorry to hear all of this, Debs. I hope you can find some relief very soon. And I'm sure the pain isn't in your head! Maybe though it's time to consult someone who isn't satisfied with this kind of result for you? Why not take the pain meds round the clock? Please don't suffer needlessly. Guest guest
Hey a, Thanks for the information. The ortho doc does x-rays everytime I have an appointment and he says they look fine. Before I had the left knee revised, he sent me for a bone scan and the right knee showed " hot " which made him a little concerned, but then he went on to explain the knee appears " hot " on these scans for up to 2 years, so I just kinda dismissed it. I see the ortho on Tuesday and then Ron's new insurance takes over and he is not contracted so I will be forced to see a new surgeon. I like the doctor a lot, but he is on his 4th practice he has been with in the 3 years I have been seeing him. I am afraid when I see him next week, he will tell me that he is leaving medicine all together and start teaching or doing research. I am at a point where I don't want anything more done to my knees so I guess this is going to be as good as it gets. My back is still in bad shape which I feel stems from that last knee replacement. Either it put me into alignment that my body wasn't used to or it really whacked out my back when they did the TKR. Thanks again sweetie and try to have a painfree evening. I am wheezing pretty bad right now and need to use the nebulizer............ Gentle, tender, angel hugs, Deb
