Challenging position in the North East with PATH’s “Inter-Act” project

PATH, an international NGO with offices in India, is committed to improving the

health of people around the world by advancing health technologies,

strengthening systems and encouraging healthy behaviors. PATH has been working

with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to play a key role in its Avahan

Initiative, providing technical leadership and coordination support to other

Avahan partners in the field of inter-personal communication (IPC) to promote

HIV/AIDS prevention and health-seeking behaviors amongst key populations,

including people who buy and sell sex, people who inject drugs and men who have

sex with men. PATH’s work in the Avahan Initiative is known as “Project

Inter-Act”.

PATH invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Program

Manager to be based in Gawahati, Assam with Project Inter-Act. While HIV/AIDS

expertise is welcome, PATH is also keen to attract applicants with a strong IPC

background in other health and development issues, especially with training and

technical support expertise in methodologies such as community theatre,

dialogue-based communications and communications for social change.

Program Manager (North-East): The position will contribute to the development

and design of the Inter-Act project in North East and ensures its successful

implementation. The position holder will work closely with the larger Inter-Act

project team and will oversee all Inter-Act activities in North-East, providing

technical assistance, monitoring project performance, overcoming obstacles and

resolving problems. The position will report to the Associate Director based in

New Delhi.

Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in communications,

public health, development or other relevant discipline. At least 7 years

experience in project management in the health sector with particular emphasis

on HIV/AIDS and on working with people who inject drugs. Experience in behavior

change communications (BCC) and interpersonal communications (IPC) will be

preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, high computer

proficiency, an ability to work in multi-cultural environment, and a strong

commitment to hard work and high quality. PATH offers a highly dynamic and
