Guest guest
Dear FORUM, I must say that government has taken lot of pain to stream line blood banking system in India. There are three components to be looked in for safe blood : No.1, the Donor: we need batallion of voluntary blood donors in all state. except west bengal and gujarat state, there is a wide gap between voluntary donrs/replacement donors and demand of blood.we need to have voluntary blood donation movement through out India like family planning during sanjay gandhi era or pulse polio drive. good coardination between NGOs and government can make this a success. No.2, Blood bank: no pathological laboratories should be allowed to run blood bank as these are the grey areas from where proffessional donor gates entery into blood donation. unless there is wide gap for demand and supply, tgis is bit difficult.one must establish credibility of blood bank and supply of safe and quality blood. No.3, Clinician role: the clinician must requeite blood form blood bank which has credibility/good manufacturing practice/standars operating procedure etc.atlest for blood transfussion donot compromise cost and quality and personale relation and also emphasise on rational use. The community at large should be educated for safe blood . long live voluntary blood donation Dr.Niloo Vaishnav E-mail: <niloov@...>
