Guest guest Posted February 8, 2005 Report Share Posted February 8, 2005 Dear All CFAR is inviting professionals with a track record in media, communication and advocacy in development issues in six states - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland and with a strong understanding of and professional experience relating to HIV/AIDS prevention to send in their expression of interest. The Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) is a professional organisation based in New Delhi. CFAR has a track record of the last ten years working in India in media and communication research and advocacy on development issues including HIV/AIDS. The proposed initiative of CFAR seeks to use media advocacy to build an enabling environment for and reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS. The media advocacy programme will be developed by a team of senior professionals from the National Office in Delhi and implemented with the assistance and inputs from the state team. The salary offered will be commensurate with the job requirements; level of expertise and the scales are at par with other civil society organisations. 1. Programme Manager (1 position) Profile: Senior, 5 - 8 years experience essential The programme manager will be in charge of the planning and project management at the state level. She/ he will report to and be guided by the Programme Manager in New Delhi. Requirements: A. Person to manage HIV/AIDS media advocacy programme at the state level. Must have the ability to translate ongoing care and support interventions into an effective advocacy process. B. Must be well networked with NGOs working in the development sector in HIV/AIDS specifically, government departments at the state and district levels. Understanding HIV/AIDS programmes, government and NGO development programmes and interventions at the State level is essential. C. Must demonstrate capacity to design and implement stakeholder consultations, provide training/ sensitisation, document and disseminate information. D. Reasonable appreciation/ working knowledge of communication and media outlets E. Must demonstrate ability to document processes; written and spoken fluency in English and local language essential F. Previous experience in programme/ project management, personnel and financial planning and management essential. G. Computer skills especially MS Office - Power point, Word, Excel - essential H. Travel within state is an essential part of the profile 2. Programme coordinator (1 position) Profile: Middle, 3 - 6 years experience essential The programme coordinator will assist the programme manager at the state level in implementing the programme. She/ he will report to the Programme Manager at the State level. Requirements: A. Professional with experience of working with the media, reporting and interfacing on development health issues. Experience of working in the media must include knowledge of state and district media outlets and opinion makers. B. Professional must be either in the development sector with a strong domain expertise in media expertise or a media practitioner with strong exposure to development and communication specifically HIV/AIDS. C. Must possess skills of networking with media practitioners at the State and district level. Must have the ability to tack and analyse local language and English coverage. D. Must be able to develop media friendly information, material in local and English language. E. Previous experience in such projects desirable. F. Computer skills especially MS Office - Power point, Word, Excel - essential G. Travel within the state is an essential part of the profile 3. Project Associate (1 position) Profile: Junior, 2- 4 years experience essential. The project associate will assist the Project Manager and Coordinator in carrying out media documentation and liaison. Requirements: A. Professional with skills in development research and documentation. Skills in media research and documentation are preferable. B. Previous experience and understanding of issues of HIV/AIDS essential C. Written and spoken fluency in English and local language essential D. Computer skills especially MS Office - Power point, Word, Excel - essential E. Ability to work harmoniously in a team. F. Travel within the state is an essential part of the profile 4. Administrative Officer (1 position) Profile: For Delhi - Middle level with 3-6 years experience essential For States - Administrative and Accounts Officer , Middle 3- 6 years experience essential. Requirements: The Administrative Officer in Delhi will be responsible for the entire personnel and financial management of the project in the six states, will assist the National Programme Manager to set up and oversee the management of all operational systems. She / He will report to and be guided by the Director / Programme Manger in Delhi. At the state level the Administrative and Accounts Officer will be responsible for office accounts and book -keeping and will report to the State Program Manager. A. Proficiency in Programme administration and financial planning B. Proficiency in personnel management, systems management, resource generation, liaison with Government departments C. Proficiency in project donor requirements. D. Understanding of NGO related legal, financial requirements E. Knowledge and practice of Event management desirable F. Exposure to NGO work essential G.
