It is very beautiful up around here, too. On New Years Eve, I went with

friends and walked around Butchart Gardens. They decorate it sooo

beautifully for Christmas. Millions of lights all around. Quite spectacular

Where do you live,

I'm coming with you, ! Get ready for visitors, Heidi.

I've been to Vancouver just once, but it made a wonderful impression,

.

Re: [ ]

Heidy -- My bags are packed! What a gorgeous country! I loved looking

at

all the pictures. What's the market like for speech pathologists???

The

climate is very appealing. I can see why it is such a popular tourist

destination.

I live on an island, too. Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada.

Part of the province of British Columbia. I looked up the stats for

comparison. You are 720 square miles -- I'm 2,136 square miles. Your

populations is 1.2 million; mine in 1996 was 652,000. So lots more

people

on lots smaller space for you. Is Port Louis the biggest city? Only

city?

Are there lots of smaller towns/villages? Probably lots of sugar cane

farms?

I always loved the Dodo bird :-(

Thanks so much for sending me that information. I love learning about

new

places. Not boring in the slightest!

Happy New Year! I’ve been very quiet lately - a lurker mostly I’ll have to

admit! I read most messages to keep up with what’s been happening. I’m

maintaining at this point, so I just go about my daily activities (real

estate, kids school activities and keeping the kids & animals fed!) I

enjoyed hearing (and looking at the website!)about Mauritius, Heidi and

hearing about Butchart Gardens during Christmas, . I live in

Arlington, WA (about 2 hrs S of Vancouver), so one of these days I really

want to head up to Vancouver Isl and see Butchart Gardens (maybe during

lilac season!!)

Anyway, hope you all had a good day and as free of pain as possible!

Elly

Hi Elly,

I live in -- maybe we'll have to have an RA gathering here sometime

All do Butchart Gardens together!

I'm from Washington State originally. Got my first speech job in Manitoba,

Canada, 20+ years ago. Stayed there 3 years and then moved to .

Wonderful place to live.

Small world :-) And the internet has made it even smaller!!

Where do you live now, June?

My plans are to retire in about 8 years. I'll enjoy the time but not the

decrease in money! Am hoping I'll have my mortgage paid off by then. And no

doubt my daughters will be fabulously wealthy by then and will help support

their Ma! (Assuming they graduate high school :-)

It is a gorgeous area around here. Nice mix of mountains and ocean. I've

been bike riding a lot these last couple years. The scenes we come across

are just breathtaking. Sometimes ride along the waterfront with sailboats

all over, Olympic Mountains in the background. Unbelievably beautiful.

Hope you'll be able to visit again someday.

I really enjoyed looking at all the information on Mauritius, thanks for

sharing this with us Heidi.

,when I was working,I was in Vancouver at least once a month and loved

my trips there. That is one of the biggest things I miss about being retired

since I can no longer afford to travel on my own money LOL.

Hugs

Heidi, I so enjoyed pictures of your home. It was like a virtual vacation

to paradise!

I hope Day 2 of the Great Smoke-free Mission is going well.

Much love and many hugs,

Carol

Hi Judi,

Sorry you are not well today, please make sure you rest an take care of

yourself, as we are always reminding each other - you are immune suppressed

so need extra tender loving care. I'm so glad Ron is looking after you well

and spoiling you, it's obvious he loves you to bits.

Here are a few links I found on Mauritius, (you'll need to copy and paste

them onto your browser I think) I hope you enjoy them:

I'm not too sure what the exact time difference would be from where you are

but it's rather large. About 12 hours ahead of West USA and about 9 hours

ahead of East USA. So when I'm working you're sleeping and when you wake up

I'm ready for bed :-)

Sending you mugs of virtual chicken soup and big (((((((hugs)))))))))

Heidi
