When I was young (15 or so), I decided I'd dabble in some

small business ventures. I needed a name, and came up with

TABco. " TAB " being my initials, and " co "

for company. One thing I did, was make custom knives. For

these, I had a special stamp made , that said TABco for imprinting on the

blades. When I went to work for a company building custom

machinery, I used this stamp, to mark pieces and machinery I

made. Eventually, people asked who built something, or asked

who TABco was, they were told it was me. An old guy I worked

with (Andy), was probably the first to start calling me TABco as a

name. He and I were very good buddies, and a brief story of

my adventures with him are on my web page at

and it's a good story of two debts that I can never repay.

People heard Andy calling me TABco and started doing the same. Some never learned my real name, and only knew me as TABco.

When I got into computers in the early 80s, I of course used

the user name TABco. I ran my own BBS (bulletin board system)

and only identified myself as TABco. When the internet became

easily available, I again took TABco as a user name, and have been lucky,

as the several times I've changed ISPs, TABco has always been

available. There are several businesses that use the TABco

name. None of them are me. It's only a nickname to me,

anymore.

So, it's nothing racy, or funny.......just a silly little

name, that stuck.

Oh yea....the stone.....still waiting. They can take

months to come out. Sometimes when they take a while, I

" cash out " like a slot machine, with several stones coming out

at one time. I've done 5 at one time, and 10 in one

day. Talk about having a bad day.......
