Guest guest
I hope you had a good sleep and that today is a better day, Kathy! Sorry that the nurse wasn't there, and I hope she is there Tuesday. Roseola and shingles are caused by different viruses, human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV). They are similar in that both viruses are part of the herpes family and have the potential to lay dormant in the host (YOU!) after the initial infection and reactivate under certain immune system circumstances. Typically, you get roseola as a baby and chickenpox in youth (although I was 18!), but any of the herpes viruses that infected you as a child can surface again in adulthood. Check out the following concise information about the human herpesviruses: http://www.immunitytoday.com/virin.html Re: [ ] Happy Birthday, Kathy in IL! > thanks gina, actually roseola and shingles are very much related. i think i > read somewhere that the adult form is called shingles. it only bothers me at > night. i cough, blow and itch. really nasty weather so not sure if we will go > out or not. my dr is still out of town, his nurse was not in the office. so > my choices are....live with it until tuesday. or waste $50 and go to the e/r.
