I use a ton of black pepper on just about everything I eat. I consume

so much I want to ask is black pepper on our " safe food " list? Do you

have any healthier alternatives?

I seem to remember that Pritikin was opposed to the use of pepper.

But (assuming I remember that corectly from 25 years ago!) I do not

remember the reason. Perhaps Jeff might know. Or perhaps I have

that wrong.

Although posted a link explaining the health aspects of black pepper, anyone who consumes " a ton " of it should probably try to be more moderate in their intake. Try lemon juice, garlic and other flavorings as subswtitutes once in a while. While nothing bad seems to have been discovered about it......one ne sais jamais.........

Moderation, moderation, moderation.

many years ago Pritikin recommended that people avoid black pepper and if they

wanted to use pepper, to use white pepper. The reason is that at the time,

there was some " studies " (I beleive) that showed there may be a concern with

black pepper. That concern never panned out, so we dont have any caution around

it now.
