Silver also causes argyria in humans.

Argyria or Argyrism is an irreversible blueish-black discolouration

of the skin, mucous membranes or internal organs caused by ingestion

of, or contact with, various silver compounds.

Argyria following the use of dietary supplements containing colloidal

More stuff on the broad antimicrobial and antiviral effects of certain

short medium chain FA. Coconut oil, one of the most saturated fats

contains over 50% lauric acid. Not for nothing do the populations who

consume tropical oils liberally have low infection rates of any kind.

Think of the low HIV and AIDS rates in the Philippines and Sri Lanka.

: this study was about milk, not coconut oil. If you make such leaps in your " commentary " , your posts will not be approved.

Here is a convenient list posted on a coconut commodity organization

site; published research done on the antimicrobial properties of

coconut oil and medium-chain triglycerides:

Dave,

The list of publications about coconut in the link that you provided

is impressive, but I would question whether it is a list containing

only favorable results. There seems to be some commercial interest

behind this collection of citations:

http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/aboutus.htm

" The Coconut Research Center is a not-for-profit organization

operated by an all volunteer staff under the direction of Bruce Fife,

N.D. Dr. Fife is the author of numerous books including The Coconut

Oil Miracle (formerly titled The Healing Miracles of Coconut Oil),

Coconut Lover's Cookbook, and Eat Fat, Look Thin. He is the director

of the Southern Colorado chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation and

serves as the editor of the Healthy Ways Newsletter. "
