Indicorps Fellowship Program Coordinator (3): Indicorps is looking for program and field staff for Indicorps’ flagship fellowship program, a highly acclaimed leadership development program that encourages young professionals of Indian origin in the US, Canada, and UK to give one year in service of their motherland through pre-defined projects designed to help partner NGOs meet specific capacity needs. Interested individuals will help develop and maintain NGO partnerships, manage fellow training programs, organize retreats and professional development opportunities for participants, design and monitor fellowship projects, manage fellows in the field, research best practices and collect resources. Potential staff should have a strong understanding of the voluntary sector and grassroots development, have an intuitive sense of service, be extremely patiend, and be willing to travel nationally. Fluency in English and at least one Indian language is necessary; applicants must be organized and self-motivated. Senior Corps Program Coordinator (2): Help us encourage Indians with significant work experience help India through service. Indicorps is seeking highly-motivated individuals with a strong record of self-initiative to develop and pilot a program for mid and late-career Indians abroad engage in India’s development through 6-month volunteer opportunities. Persons interested in establishing and managing the Senior Corps program must understand Indicorps’ philosophy, have strong managerial skills, have substantial knowledge of India’s development sector, have basic computer skills, be willing to travel, and must communicate well in English as well as Hindi, and preferably one regional Indian language. Interested individuals must be self-motivated and have excellent organizational skills. Short-Term Volunteer Program Coordinator (2): Indicorps seeks individuals who can help develop a mechanism to facilitate short-term international volunteer opportunities with capable NGOs. A core function of this initiative will involve volunteer management and capacity building of NGOs through workshops, short courses, and selected site support. In addition, you will be responsible for designing informational material and services to prepare volunteers to make a positive contribution and learn from the process. You will work to develop and manage institutional partnership with organizations involved in inspiring civic responsibility and the volunteer cause. The short-term volunteer program administrator position requires a willingness to travel, a passion for service and nation-building, an in-depth understanding of the Indicorps philosophy and the development sector, good oral and written communication skills, and must have strong computer skills. Domestic Program Launch Team (4) - Indicorps seeks a team of creative and talented young professionals to develop and implement a strategy to organize, lead, and recruit young people to popularize the national service across the India. Indicorps intends to pilot an effort to inspire a volunteer “culture” among India’s dynamic young population. Responsibilities may include: coordinating a day of service on October 2, 2004 in the initial city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat; this will involve bringing together similarly minded groups, mobilizing young people through speeches, street plays on college campuses, presentations at popular hang-outs, etc, and coordinating with NGOs to network them and create volunteer opportunities for inspired youth. The domestic volunteer program team will also be responsible for planning a nationwide, action-driven youth yatra to promote civic responsibility / voluntary service, youth empowerment, and collective action across in India. Members of the domestic program coordination team will require self-initiative, organizational skills, and a track record of creative enterprise. The team must be willing to travel, have an in-depth understanding of the Indicorps’ philosophy, be passionate about service, and have excellent communication and computer skills. Public Relations / Media Specialist (1) - Indicorps is seeking an experienced media coordinator who is passionate about service and India to help package Indicorps’ diverse efforts to inspire civic responsibility and mobilize persons of Indian origin around the world to give back to India with their time and skills. Job responsibilities involve press relations, editing fellows’ columns, developing printable literature and articles about Indicorps or related work, creating promotional materials for current and future programs, and annual reports. This position requires an in-depth understanding of the Indicorps’ philosophy and the development sector; as well as excellent visual and print media skills, an ability to clearly articulate, and computer skills. Alumni and Global Volunteer Coordinator (1) – Indicorps seeks an individual passionate about service and India to coordinate a distributed network of alumni in the United States and volunteers around the world. Tasks will involve building relationships, organizing events and speaking opportunities for Indicorps alumni, motivating volunteers to promote Indicorps and work on globally localized projects to mobilize, unite, and organize the Indian diaspora. This coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing volunteer projects and opportunities that fit within Indicorps scope and vision, systematizing training (online or in person) for new volunteers, soliciting and managing global volunteer tasks, coordinating assignments, and facilitating new opportunities. The volunteer coordinator must be extremely organized, self-motivated, have excellent English communication skills, understand decentralized management, have tremendous patience, and a willingness to represent Indicorps’ core mission, vision and philosophy.
