Guest guest
I agree with you about the fiber helping hunger. Do you like to eat the beans straight or mix them in something else? I seem to like mine in soup/broth. Thank you for sharing & I find it interesting that you like to be at 54 gms of fiber. Does more fiber have no noticable benefit? Do you get any of the fiber from cereals or is it beans/lentils mostly? I used to love guar gum fiber... worked like the dickens keeping hunger in check... but I stopped that for worry about inhibited enzymes. ... based on study that Al posted. BTW, I didn't perceive that Jerusalem ARtichokes were low in carbs, just that the carbs came from inulin rather than starch. Apparently, they are most notable for that reason. jwwright wrote: Right, it's those hard to get things that bug me. And every time I try a low carbo diet, I end up migrating back to fiber. Beans, lentils, for Mg. and fiber. But more meat means to me less calories like 1300 - 1500 kcals, with no hunger. However, the last 2 days I've been > 50% C, and I haven't been hungry either so maybe I'm finding a middle of the road. Also atkins raises BP way to much, like 38/18. I actually had one day <1000 kcals with no hunger. So I see how some CRONies can get by with less calories. I just can't get by without the fiber, and the metamucils don't work by themselves. Not a small problem. But today, I sitting at 1338 kcals, 20/21/58 P/F/C, and if I do a ground sirloin patty, I'll still be like 1564, 23/27/50. And 54 gms of fiber. Regards. Guest guest
I think 33 gms is the RDA, but I think also I need more. Dried beans, dried peas, lentils my wife cooks to nearly a soup. It appears to me a diff type of fiber, at least in effect. Anyway the added meat was a test to lower body fat. And the cereals are OK, I'd just rather use unprocessed stuff. Regards.
