Guest guest
Hi Tina, When you make a solid perfume you're looking for a different hardness than with a lip balm. The basic recipe for that is 3 parts oil, 2 parts beeswax, 1 part FO or EO. When I do salves, I use 3 tablespoons of beeswax per cup of oil, or a bit less if you want it a little softer. When using the 3 tablespoons, you get the consistency of a fairly hard surface that 'comes off' easily on your finger so you can spread it wherever. If you want it to be somewhat 'goopy' reduce that to 2 tablespoons. You need to play with it a little. For lip balms however, I like it to be somewhat softer. I put mine in pots and the proportion is 1.5 tsp beeswax to 6.75 tsp of oils. Well, okay, that's a tiny batch, but the proportions should be constant. Part of the oils is cocoa butter which hardens up on its own as well. I hope this has been of some use at least! *GGGG* Ellen~
