Guest guest
I added a CR page to my web site: http://www.scientificpsychic.com/health/crondiet.html The information will be very familiar to the old-timers, but I added some things that exhuberant promoters of CR don't normally talk about. Since this is well-trodden ground, I try to focus on the big picture, rather than the details. The only thing really new is at the bottom of the page in a technical analysis. I applied the Mifflin-St Jeor energy expenditure equations to determine the caloric requirement for a 4-foot, half-weight human which would result from 40% CR applied after weaning. Surprise! The computed caloric requirement was 59%, almost exactly 40% CR. I am convinced that high percentages of CR cannot be sustained unless the BMI drops below the bottom of the normal range (18.5), and as we all know, that carries some risks. There seems to be a treasure trove of information in the empirical energy equations which I still have not managed to tap. There was a study that we discussed during the past year that mentioned that humans on a 12% CR diet fared the best. I have not been able to find the article. If anyone runs across it, please give me the citation. I would like to shift the focus slightly more toward humans with reliable hard evidence.
