Guest guest
Dear Forum members, It was 8 in the morning and I was enjoying my breakfast when the news paper hawker threw the paper to my table. That day he was a bit late. I took the paper and start screening it. On the front page I saw the word USAID. It caught my interest and I started reading it without screening the paper further. The news of the murder of Pushkin Chandra once again reflected the law and order situation in the capital. I was really shocked with the kind of heinous crime that took place in the Friday night. The next morning at the same time on my breakfast table I took the news paper and immediately looked for further news about the killing of USAID employee. The news paper disappointed me a lot. There was no clue of the murderers and even after ten days of the crime, police is still unable to find the clue of the killers. I am very disappointed this time with the kind of role media has played in this whole episode. The news traveled from first page to second and now disappeared. The way media has elaborated the personal life of the people is really shameful. This time the focus of the media was on the relationship of a man with a man. It seems that media is trying project that the cause of Pushkin’s murder is due to his sexual orientation and his preference. The case would never be the same for someone who has the so called normal sexual orientation i.e. heterosexual relations. I request all the members of the forum to oppose and demonstrate against the stigma and hate created by the media against the people of sexual minorities especially in the case of Pushkin’s murder.
