Guest guest
Hi folks: Someone sent me the pdf of this study a few weeks ago (yes we all know who! ty!) and I have only just gotten down to reading it. It looked at the cell proliferation effects in mice of various forms of CR and fasting. It is not easy reading, but if I have it right, with their mice they found that: A) At 33% CR it doesn't make much difference whether fasting is also involved or not. At 5% CR, adding fasting to the mix - feeding only three days a week, MWF in this case - had a sizeable beneficial effect. C) Among the groups of mice they studied, those that appeared to get the greatest cancer-protection benefit were the ones which started out at 5% CR and went to 33% CR later. But of course this was mice. ..................... Source: " Effects of caloric restriction on cell proliferation in several tissues in mice: role of intermittent feeding. " May 2005.
