I am looking for 3 " x 4 " off-white muslin bags with a white drawstring for

some sachets I plan to make. Please e-mail me privately with name of

supplier.

Also, anybody have any interesting St. 's Day items they care to share?

Thanks,

Hello People,

I am new here and so glad I found this list. I have a question that I'd like

to post right away. I make herbal bath potpourris and I'm trying to find a

better way to package them. The pre-made muslin bags that you can order look

unattractive. It has a yellow drawstring and a red thread border at the top.

How can I make it look prettier?

TIA,

Hi, and welcome aboard..you could try stamping it w/ a pretty stamp or a

logo stamp or you could try stenciling it with fabric paint or ink...(make

sure you heat set the ink so it doesnt bleed if need be)...Have fun...Pepper

Hello ,

I like to make my own muslin bags. The fabric is inexpensive (unbleached

muslin goes for about a buck a yard at Wallyworld), and you can nake them

whatever size or color and choose whatever embellishments you wish.

Mark 3 1/2 " x 5 1/2 " rectangles on the back side of the muslin with a #2

pencil. Using a sewing machine, sew 1/4 " seams around 2 sides of the

rectangles (much more easily done if you sew first, then cut), leaving the

top side and a side seam unsewn. Cut the rectangles apart, then insert the

drawstring material of choice into the open long seam, and sew it up. This

will leave just the top side open.

If you've used a pair of pinking shears to cut your material, the top side

won't need hemming. Fiskars makes interesting shears -- some with sclloped

edges, etc. They also make lovely edges on those wide cigar bands for soaps.

Alternatively, you could purchase the pre-made muslin bags and stamp them

(rubber stamps). 's craft stores carries a huge array of rubber

stamps, or you can find them all over the place on the internet.

Hang tags work well with any type of bag.

Happy crafting!

Thank you all for the tips. I tried both making mine and 'dressing up' the

pre-made ones. I think the ones I made look more attractive but I'm being

lazy about making them!! I have a bag of pre-made ones and I'd like to use

them up. Anybody got any recommendation on drawstring material?

Besides making your own, you can embellish the purchased ones by painting or

stenciling on them. Buttons, ribbon, lace, and other items can be sewn or

glued on to make them prettier, as well. I like to secure the tops with

rubber bands covered with ribbon or raffia and then I glue on a small bunch

of silk or dried flowers.

Depending upon the look you want, raffia, twine, or ribbon could work.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone made muslin bags for sale (without a drawstring).

Please contact me by e-mail if you do. Thanks.
