MonoAmine Oxidase (MAO) inhibition as adjudct to CR? (Selegeline/Deprenyl)

Has anyone tried Selegeline (also known as L-Deprenyl) in addtion to

CR? While I am leary of medication use, I find that it helps decrease

appetite a bit, and improves cognitive function if only mildy used

(low BMI, low dose).

The ref & links below indicate research involving it's lifespan

enhancing effects, althought not as dramatic as CR..

(I have to check if there is something on how long a Wistar-Logan rat

lives on a CR diet...)

DEPRENYL: THE ANTI-AGING DRUG

4 series of rat experiments, as well as an experiment with beagle

dogs, have shown that DPR can extend lifespan significantly, even

beyond the " technical lifespan " of a species. Knoll reported that 132

Wistar-Logan rats were treated from the end of their second year of

life with either saline injections or 0.25 mg/kg DPR injection 3 times

In the saline-treated group the oldest rat reached 164 weeks of age,

and the average lifespan of the group was 147 weeks. In the DPR group,

the average lifespan was 192 weeks, with the shortest-living rat dying

at 171 weeks, and the longest-lived rat reaching 226 weeks.
