We have a file on exercise under " CRON Science " .

On another topic:

Once again I need to warn members that superfluous posts (of which there were several today) such as wisecracks etc. should not be posted to this group. We now have very heavy traffic and many members don't like nonsense piling up in their mailboxes. Offenders will be put on " moderate " . In extreme cases they will be banned from the group.

Has anyone read anything which would lead them to draw conclusions about how much and what kind of exercise offers the greatest benefits?

Thanks!

Can you show me all these " superfluous posts " you refer to? I

seriously haven't seen any. What do you deem as superfluous here on

this topic?

Thanks.

: for some reason you seem to think that warnings to the group are directed at you personally. None of the exercise posts were superfluous. To avoid embarrassment to the offenders I am NOT going to " show you " the posts. The people have been warned off list about this.

However I wish you had sent me this off list because it certainly was unnecessary to alert all 1800 members to your question, which only for me alone.

If you or any other offenders find yourself on " moderate " , it's because I've repeated myself many times now to no avail.

Yes, there is a file under " CRON Science " that addresses HOW MUCH

excercise is beneficial, but it doesn't address what KIND of excercise

is best.

From my personal experience as a runner and a cyclist, I can attest

that long easy miles build endurance and burn excess calories, while

short, very intense efforts performed at your maximum effort produce

the biggest changes in VO2 max.

The " in-between " hard efforts performed for longer periods of time,

but not at your maximum output, provide the " least bang for the buck, "

because they tear you down (make you tired/sore) without providing the

greatest results.

I don't have any peer-reviewed articles to support these facts, so

I'll restate Bernadette's question:

" Has anyone read anything which would lead them to draw conclusions

about how much and what kind of exercise offers the greatest benefits? "

I had at first not approved this post because a quick reading of it seemed to be " opinion " only. Then I saw some " scientific reasearch " and decided to send it on to the group. Unfortunately I looked at the link below after the post was sent to the group. The link is to a commercial site which sells these things.

I apologize to the group for letting this through. My error.

Here is one link (with an excerpt) taken from a search I did for

'rebounding exercise scientific research'.
