NGO meeting with Piot (UNAIDS)

NGOs and CBOs working in and around Kamatipura area where invited

for a joint consultation with Dr. Piot UNAIDS. The meet was

aimed at sharing experiences with Mr. Piot.

The meeting was scheduled at 2.00pm at Gaurabai Clinic at 10th Lane

Kamatipura on 3rd November 2004. NGOs like Asha mahila sanstha;

Prerna, CCDT, Dai, SAI, PSI and Humsafar Trust were present at the

meet.

But due to unforeseen conditions dr. Piot was unable to make it to

the session, however his aid de camp Dr. Suman attended the meeting

on his behalf along with Dr. Alka Gogate of MDACS. The session

initiated with each of the groups introducing the organisation they

represent and the work they have undertaken. Ashok Row Kavi,

Shashikant Shette, Vijay Bansode, Sandip Mane and Ernest represented

the Humsafar Trust.

Dr. Suman encouraged people from the audience to ask questions, she

also replied assertively that UNAIDS stands firm in its commitment

to

work with marginal populations like sex workers, MSM and sexual

minorities.

The Humsafar Trust presented her with a Saanp Sedi game, along with

IEC and a power point presentation on HST.

The meeting terminated at 4.40pm
