Ipas works globally to increase women's ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights and to reduce abortion-related deaths and injuries. We seek to expand the availability, quality and sustainability of abortion and related reproductive health services, as well as to improve the enabling environment. Ipas believes that no woman should have to risk her life or health because she lacks safe reproductive health choices The India country program works towards: (a) demonstrating scalable models for strengthening training systems and service delivery of comprehensive abortion care services in primary health care settings; ( action research on abortion issues from the perspective of women, communities, and service providers, in order to influence advocacy, policy, service delivery and training initiatives; © policy and advocacy initiatives that increase women’s access to safe abortion services and (d) facilitating introduction & promoting use of appropriate technologies for early safe abortion. In order to strengthen its India program, Ipas is looking for a Research & Evaluation Associate to be based in the New Delhi Office. Tenure: The position is full-time contract for one year, which is likely to be extended. General Description: The Research & Evaluation Associate’s responsibilities include overall R & E support for the India country program, including design and support for evaluation and monitoring of program activities; analysis and dissemination of results to both Ipas staff and external audiences; research project design and implementation; and provide inputs for proposal development and donor reporting. S/he will also be responsible for program management which involves coordination of certain activities with partner training institutions and service delivery sites; follow up of trained and equipped providers and service sites; maintaining a data base of trainings; collection, compilation and analysis of periodic reports in collaboration with the Training and Service Delivery Initiative (TSDI) and Product Promotion & Distribution (PPD) Advisors and assisting in production and design of advocacy materials using internal and external data and research findings. Interface and obtain appropriate technical input and support from the R & E Unit of Ipas, Chapel Hill. The Position reports to the India Country Director, and receives technical support/backstopping from the R & E Unit in North Carolina. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Provide technical support for the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation of Ipas’ country programs in India. Design and provide technical support for implementation of a training & service site monitoring and evaluation system and PPD information systems. Ensure that monitoring and evaluation data are analyzed and disseminated, and that findings are routinely assessed for programmatic implications by the India team and external stakeholders. Design, implement and manage reproductive health research projects, including conducting/overseeing data collection, analysis and reporting, coordinating work of short term consultants and providing administrative support for projects. Design and produce advocacy materials, background paper, presentations, etc., using internal and external data, research findings and other publications. Compile and analyze periodic reports from health facilities providing CAC services and trainings Prepare proposals, study protocols, and reports. Represent Ipas at relevant conferences, meetings, etc., as required. Carry out other duties as assigned. Core Requirements: Minimum requirement Graduate degree in a social science or public health discipline. Master’s degree preferred. 3-5 years of experience conducting applied research, evaluation and monitoring of reproductive health programs. Experience working in program implementation organizations preferred. Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Hindi. Knowledge of other Indian languages would be an advantage. Quantitative research skills, including demonstrated ability in collection, analysis and presentation of quantitative data. Qualitative research experience desired, especially in community-based research methodologies. Demonstrated ability in word processing, spreadsheet, database and statistical computer packages, (e.g., MS Office Suite, Epi Info, SPSS, SAS, STATA). Experience with qualitative computer packages (e.g., NVivo, Atlas, Nudist, EZ Text) desired. Demonstrated ability to search internet and access web- based RH databases, resources and relevant publications. Strong management skills, including experience in project administration, supervision of research field staff, managing outsourced activities and communication among global and national staff and collaborators. Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% of working days. Ability to function in a multi-discipline and multi- cultural team.
